I have been going here for the last five years and have not once been able to fault it. The food is superb and I actively suggest this place to my friends. The manager is friendly and welcoming, and although the staff sometimes take a little while to flag down or seem not overly rushed, the eventual quality of the meal outshines any short delays. I would definitely recommend visiting in a sizeable group so you can have a little taste of everything. The food does feel a little pricey when there are just the two of us getting hummus, a salad, and the chicken/lamb but when split among a group of 4+ this place becomes the best cheap eat around.
As with many a great restaurant, Almustafa has lost its way. I've been frequently over the past 13 years going back to the days when they were based in Surry Hills. The restaurant was once regarded as one of the best Lebanese joints in Sydney boasting authentic home style cooking. Definitely not anymore. We arranged a birthday dinner for 15 on a Saturday evening choosing the $55 banquet. The service was reasonable but arguably slow with staff coming across overly rushed. Not pleasant when trying to flag down someone to bring extra drinks etc. They served the dips Houmous and Babaghanoush but didn't serve the bread until 8 minutes later I timed it. The dips were ok but nothing to write home about. The Stuffed Vine Leaves were either old or simply bland. I recall them being fantastic years ago. The Kebbe was dry and the meat to wheat ratio was completely off balance. I'd say 90% wheat, 10% meat. Good Kebbe isn't made this way. The Falafel was dry and no one at the table really ate it including the kids. The Chicken Skewers were also very dry and had a weird after taste as is often the case with old chicken. The Lamb Skewers were dry, burned in parts and the meat quality very poor. Lot's of fat and gristle with an unpleasant flavor. For desert they served a small selection of Baklava and Turkish Delight. The latter was nice however, the Baklava was very dry. The $850 paid for this disgraceful excuse of a banquet is enough reason to never go again or recommend anyone else go. Sorry Almustafa, you'll need to dig really deep to find that charming place you once were.
One of the nicer Lebanese cuisine and have been there many times and on special occasions too and the food and the atmosphere has always been great. the dishes that I liked are Shishtawook, Lamb Mansaf, Chicken Mansaf and Kafta Arayes. Located in the foody glebe point road where you will find a lot of different restaurants. On saturday nights you can enjoy great belly dancing and booking is essential otherwise hard to get a table. The restaurant is quite big and the inside can get a bit congested.
Food is good, can't complain in terms of flavour but the price here is on the dear side compared to other top leb restaurant, It didn't even come with pickles, olives and chillies. They even charged me $1 for chilli past, that's standard with any other leb restaurant with my grilled chicken. Service was friendly but for a quite night, food and the way it come out sequence was slow and unprofessional, hate to be here when it's busy.
Went there this week for work Xmas dinner. The whole team thought the $45 banquet was a rip off...lots of dips but 1 chicken skewer and 1 lamb skewer each for the price...and it wasnt that busy. Wont be going back and wouldnt recommend
This place never disappoints. We've been dining at Al Mustafa for over 20 years - both at their current location in Glebe and at their former, Cleveland Street site. We've held many of our significant family celebrations at Al Mustafa and I never hesitate to recommend the place to friends. The food is always delicious and in a world of impersonal pop-up cafes, Al Mustafa has consistently provided an exceptionally warm welcome, excellent service and a great night out.
We had dinner couple of days ago and absolutely loved it.. Can't wait to come back again!!! You should definitely try their dips and lamb sish plates also mixed pickles.
Well made lebanese food with good flavour. The atmosphere is good especially when the belly dancing begins. Unfortunately the fattoush lacked balance and was not edible.
We ordered 5 starters and 6 meals at the same time, the starters came one by one followed by two meals, then nothing untill 15 minutes later, again another 15 minutes for the final two dishes to arrive. By the time the last two meals were on the table, everyone else was finished!
The whole family loves this place, the staff are wonderful, and the aunties cook superb food. I sooooo look forward to going there, and we order way too much
