Last night we booked a table in the restaurant and it was a great meal. The area was table service which meant we didn’t have to line up. The area is nicely styled and the booth seats looked like a great spot for a date night. We had a table by the fire which was a good spot on a cold night. The food tasted great and was a decent serving size. I took half the curry home as I was too full from eating the garlic bread. Definitely recommend and would come back again. The desserts sounded so good I want to try them.
We came here after the Gather around at Norwood Oval Kangaroos v Brisbane.nWhile they obviously knew that the pub would be busy, the line to order food was 30 minutes long and actually took longer to order than what it did to get the food out from the kitchen. Why not do QR code bookings from the table if you can’t be bothered putting on more staff?nIt seems like this place is penny pinching nAlso the kitchen closed early even though they were busy from the football…nFood was pretty decent though.
We had a meal with friends yesterday, the food was pretty average, the side salads consisted of nothing but a pile of lettuce, the pepper sauce was bland and flavourless, and my pizza was lacking in toppings and was burnt, when waitress was questioned she really didn’t care.nThe dining room was empty yet it took ages for our meals to come out and some at our table still had to wait.nGiven the cost of dining out these days, it was very average at best, I would give the Alma a wide berth, better places to eat.nCheck the recent reviews with low scores before you book, last 6 months paints a picture of what the food is like, pity we didn’t check.
My wife and I went to the Alma for dinner and had a lovely time. The menu was modern while still featuring all the pub classics. The Duxton group really looked after us and made sure we had a wonderful experience.
