Store policies have changed quite a lot and are making customers feel like criminals. The only thing that store has going for itself is its staff. Had a great experience with staff member named Nick at the self checkout. He checked my bag but was very apologetic and understanding about it, then was happy to help me out afterwards. The store needs to work better to make sure people can have a good shopping experience.
Visited Aldi Bondi Junction on 29 Nov around 15:28 and had an unpleasant experience with a staff member Sapna. While I was scanning at self-checkout with my mother, she repeatedly asked to check our bags. I politely said she could check after I finished and even said she could monitor my scanning if needed. I fully cooperated, yet she accused me of being rude.nnAfter I completed checkout and called her back for the bag check, she instead told me to “complain about her,” said she was “just doing her job,” and pointed me to her supervisor. It felt unnecessary and unprofessional.nnI live nearby and shop here weekly, and this is already the second similar incident at this store. I hope staff receive better training on timing and attitude when enforcing policies.
What a wonderful experience… if the goal was to make me feel like I was in a police raid!nnJust walk in with a bag, backpack, or anything that doesn’t fit in your pocket, and you’re instantly treated like a suspect. Staff ask you to open your bag as if you’re walking out of a luxury jewelry store. All that’s missing is a metal detector and a sniffer dog.nnNow I carry receipts from other supermarkets — just in case they think a packet of cookies was stolen from their oh-so-precious shelves. Because, clearly, there must be something incredibly valuable inside. Gold? Diamonds? Ancient relics? Still looking.nnIf anyone finds out what they sell that’s so special, please let me know. So far, all I’ve seen is basic products and absolutely ridiculous treatment.
Noticeably poorer experience than other Aldi stores. Seems there is an ongoing issue with dock access as many times fresh food is unavailable.nnExpect stock shortages, prices not clear etc.
I love Aldi, but the Bondi Junction store often falls short when it comes to stock availability. On many visits, a significant number of shelves are empty. Kind of gives off those early-COVID panic-buying vibes, even though that’s clearly not the case now. It seems like there are ongoing supply chain issues that need to be addressed. It’s disappointing to have to head to Coles afterwards just to pick up basic everyday items.
