Beautiful place to stay at. I am back for holiday again and I have met some real nice people. The staff are warm and friendly. I haven't met a William throughout my stays so I am assuming there are new owners. My husband and I are so privileged to stay here. Going to miss you Alatai staff and Darwin. Going home to Aotearoa.

Rooms are tired and not very clean.. used to stay in the wet season when the rate was around $65 for one bedroom apartment per night. As that is about what they are worth.. will not stay here again for 2 reasons. once I rang to cancel a nights accomodation. I did NOT want a refund. Just courtesy to let them know I would not be there because my wife was in hospital. All they were concerned about was making it clear I would not be receiving a refund which I did not want anyway. Second reason is they demanded my partners I.D once who was in the car breast feeding. which I thought was strange as the booking was In my name and they already had a copy of my drivers license and bank card. Then when she could not find it straight away the rude desk attendant started asking whats wrong does she not have I.D like we where trying to hide something. Found it and supplied it too her even with her bad attitude. Have never had my partners I.D demanded at any other accomodation anywhere in the world.. To cap it off! Rooms are not clean worth about $65 per night in my opinion. staff are rude greedy money orientated people. Many better options in darwin when they charge higher dry season rates.

Stayed there while travelling for work. Had everything I needed. People must remember this is Darwin after all. It's all very laid back up here. So any bad reviews are in my opinion just expecting too much. This is more like something you would find out in the pacific or some of the more touristy parts of SE asia. Still has everything you need and a lot of space but you may not get a welcome mint on your pillow. Not a honeymooners paradise by any means but good enough for what I was doing up there. Very helpful and friendly at the Alatai. Rooms large and all have air conditioning. While it is a little dated, it provided so much more in facilities. like own washing machine, dryer etc. Price and location spot on. Thanks Alatai, we enjoyed our time and thanks you for being so helpful.
