This is a hidden gem! I was sure I would be bored and ended up loving every minute of it. Besides an awesome display of aircrafts and memorabilia, there was lots of history and personal stories. I loved all the figures from across the ages with their personal stories. One of the best museums I have been to!

So cool! They have so many models and currently they have different figures from every year of service telling their stories. The prisoners of war exhibit was fascinating. Amazing. Allow at least an hour and a half as we went right before it closed and had to rush through the upstairs part a bit.

Went for the vegan expo which was great. Didnt look at the museum as its intended but cool planes over head. Reckon it'd be worth it if you're into history or vehicles especially ones that fly 😉 the vegan expo was amazing though

I got a behind the scenes tour of see how the volunteers restore classic, historical RNZAF aircraft. It is free and my one took place around 11pm. Especially great for av-geeks and engineering enthusiasts alike. Main museum well laid out and tells the full story of the RNZAF, so it's not just a bunch of aircraft in a hangar. See the memorials and commemorative areas for all the service men and women who have dedicated their lives to their country and for flight. The guide (Ex-RAF engineer) is a cheerful, chap! Good stuff 👍

Great place to go and wander around, take time to see everything don't rush your experience. Needs maybe a little more interactive exhibits for younger children. Great that it is free to take grandkids to learn about our past, very important that they understand what past generation gave for this country.
