The receptionists were great! The guy on reception was so friendly and remembered names - the girl who did the quiz was so much fun too! The hostel events were fun and a super way to meet new people. Kitchen was pretty tight squeeze, carnage at meal times. The pool was good and rooms were fine too. They give a 10% discount for Australia Zoo which is good, and the bus stop for the zoo bus stops right outside!
Had a fantastic stay at Abode backpackers Mooloolaba. To be honest I had no idea what to expect as I’m an older woman on my own. I instantly felt very comfortable with the friendly staff and vibe of the place. My room was clean and nice with aircon and a ensuite with the best shower ever. Cost friendly compared to the rest of Mooloolaba. Stayed for 4 nights and slept soundly with no noise. Highly recommend staying at Abode
Loved staying here! The room was really clean, same with the bathrooms. The staff were all super kind and welcoming.nWe arrived exhausted from our flight and, because our room was already ready, they let us check in early — after a whole year of travelling, that had honestly never happened to us before and we appreciated it so much.nWould definitely stay here again!
Stayed one night. Hallways do echo a bit and can be heard in the rooms. Could get noisy in the morning or night with door closing and people walking, we didn't experience this as much as expected. Paid $150 for a stay in mid July. I do wish there was a trashcan in the room, there is a communal trash bin by the tea and coffee area.nParked on a side street as they don't have a lot of onsite parking. Good atmosphere.nThe queen bed has wheels with no wheel lock, however they do provide 2 pillows per person which is quite rare given that it is a hostel.
I booked two beds for a night in April, expecting to be in the same room. Upon arrival, we were informed they had run out of beds in the same room and we would be split up into separate dorms. When we checked the dorms, the conditions were unacceptable. The rooms were in complete disarray with belongings scattered everywhere, and the smell was so overwhelming that we couldn't stay. Despite the fact that the hostel failed to provide the shared accommodation we booked, the only solution offered by the front desk was a paid upgrade to a private room. It is incredibly misleading to allow guests to book multiple beds only to split them up upon arrival and then charge extra to stay together in a room that is actually habitable. I have requested a refund for the total cost $114.60 USD and hope the management addresses these cleanliness and booking issues.
