A Hidden Pastoral Oasis in Melbourne! nAbbotsford Convent is a soul-soothing escape. The stunning Gothic architecture and lush gardens make it feel like a European getaway.nWhy it’s worth visiting:n• Creative Hub: Peek into local art studios or enjoy a workshop.n• Foodie Gems: Great coffee at the bakery and meaningful meals at Lentil as Anything.n• The Vibe: Perfect for a quiet read or a family picnic under ancient trees.nPro-Tip:nParking is tight on weekends—arrive before 10 AM! Also, don't miss the Collingwood Children’s Farm right next door. It’s the perfect spot for a slow Saturday morning.nA must-visit Melbourne gem!
Wow, what a fantastic find! You can explore the entire Convent and its lovely gardens absolutely free. I completely fell in love with the exhibit on the history of Australian women—it’s wonderfully straightforward and just a joy to experience. Plus, if you want to take your time and soak it all in, you can grab a delicious treat from the bakery or unwind at the onsite cafe and bar!
Enchanting place to be! Immerse yourself in a site where you are surrounded by historical buildings built in the 1800s, which now hosts a variety of art workshops, stores, a few cafes/restaurants as well as a beautiful garden!nnHave a nice little meal followed by a stroll around the convent, popping into various artists' workshops or stores and the Heritage Gardens. There's also a longer trail for those who are interested.nnThere's also the Collingwood Children's Farm right next door too. Absolutely love this place and will be back again!
What a treat to be a mere 4km from Melbourne's CBD yet be so surrounded by nature that you can't see any buildings. A functioning farm, a couple of cafes and an arts precinct have been nurtured by the local community to ensure this slice of inner urban paradise doesn't become a victim of commercial property development. A great riverside running track, and finally what a grand example of Georgian Architecture the convent itself is, although it holds onto spirits of the past so be prepared to have some spine tingling moments if you go inside.
Fantastic space, been here many times for different events. Today I was lucky enough to catch the farmers market as well, which was quite nice, loads of take home to make food , as well as eggs, Honey, pickled vegetables, fresh and toasted chesnuts and flowers, sweets and memorabilia, but not much to hold in your hand and eat there. Besides Roasted chestnuts and fresh pressed juice.
