On a sunny day this a really nice part of Melbourne. Food from the cafe is better than expected great chips and pizza + great views of the river. Definitely hire a rowboat for an hour, its a novel if slightly chaotic & funny experience, especially for families.
Very lovely place by the river, close to nearby parking. Indoor and outdoor seating, and boat hire too if you want to work of some extra calories. It's looking slightly tired, i.e. could use a bit of maintenance, lick of paint, etc. But for some, this adds to its charm. Will definitely go again.
Had a great morning out with my family here. We took a row boat out for an hour and then had lunch. The boat was fun, the park is beautiful, and the food was yummy. We wanted a relaxing morning and that's what this place does well - it's not the place to go if you're in a hurry.
The view, surroundings look and feel of the place are 11 out if 10! The food is good, not great and probably more expensive than your average cafe. Understand the getting up to order but think the least they could do is bring it to your table when ready. Devonshire Tea $17.50 + 15% Public Holiday surcharge today.
Even with Covid19 it was just packed. I guess they think the tables are outside so no need to distance. I ordered scrambled eggs on sourdough and that's what I got. It seems if they are busy the toasting of the bread is optional. Haha. Nice view.
Scones were good, not great. The other food looked quite fresh and seemingly enjoyed by others. Will return for a brunch to try my luck at 5 star meal. I'm optimistic.
