I found Peter and his team to be friendly, helpful and very efficient.  

I dropped my car off and was told what time it was going to be ready.  The mechanic picked up a problem with my car that the dealer who I bought the car from (and who has been servicing the car since I have had it) failed to notice.  Peter called me and told me about the problem and I was able to make an informed decision about what I wanted to do. 

I was impressed by their service and workmanship and I can highly recommend A1 Mechanical.

I recently had ignition problems with my van. After having my vehicle towed to the mechanics, they replaced the belts, and said it was ready to go. Five minutes after picking the vehicle up all of the lights are up on the dash. So I take the vehicle back. The head mechanic Peter, who seems to be a good bloke, tells me they have checked the alternator, and need to replace it. So after going to this mechanic twice and handing over $1000, the next day my van won't start!

I had the battery checked, to find that all of the cells were bone dry. Now that it is replaced I'm running again. 

It is really frustrating to have ignition problems twice after leaving this workshop. I've spoken to the mechanic who says he understands my frustration, but defends his work practices. I mentioned that had he taken 30 seconds to check the battery cells he wouldn't have an unhappy customer, but he said that I didn't have it booked in for a battery service. Talk about talking to a brick wall.

This is a real shame. I got really bad service. The bit that gets me is he knows I have more work to be done on the van. He could offer a discount in an attempt to make amends, but I got nothing. 

Only go here if you know exactly what work needs to be done. These guys are useless at diagnosing a problem thoroughly.

It isn't often you will recommend a mechanics shop, A1 is the exception. Being a tourist passing through and work on your car needs to be done you can only hope the right thing will be done and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. I found that here, I had accepted a reasonable quote and when it was time to pay I was charged $80 less. They are friendly, fast and even ring to tell you the job is done. I walked out very happy.  Give them a go.
