Fantastic school, with state of the art facilities. Excellent academic and co curricular offering that facilitates the development of high caliber, well rounded students.
We did a Principal Tour of AB Paterson as we are looking for a school to move our son to. We were so impressed with the curriculum, the setup of the classrooms with the emphasis on collaborative learning and the amount of extra curriculum activities that the school provides. One thing that stood out was that the school provides a lot of different areas to excel in with as much emphasis on academics as sport, drama and arts. I found the leadership team to be welcoming, helpful and very proud of their school and their students. I am not surprised it’s so highly recommended as a school
A.B Paterson College contains a great community of teachers and students. Everyone is friends and you will always be supported no matter what you achieve. The school has high quality facilities and teachers students leadership, responsibility and resilience, such as the annual school camps. You receive individual attention and teachers are always supportive and open minded to questions. The tuck shop contains very good, cheap, food, and the uniform is worn with pride. I would say that some regulations, such as getting changed before we go home, despite just driving a couple of minutes to our homes, would need to become relaxed, and the class sizes are quite large, but overall a good school. I would recommend sending your children here.
We are very grateful to the school for providing the amazing opportunity for our daughter to enter the Qld Schools Volleyball competition for the first time with a Year 7 group. The girls loved the training and loved competing in the 3 day event! We are so grateful to the Teachers and Director of Activities for this opportunity. Our daughter loved it and it is a reflection of how much she loves the school.
We have had an excellent experience with our kids at the school. We were first attracted by the quality of the senior students when we first did our tour here 7 years ago, and the quality of the those senior students since and the current grade 12s has only confirmed our decision to send our kids here.nWe have been impressed with the academic focus and we have also been impressed by the extra co-curricular things kids can do a part of their schooling and have been very happy with the teachers and the quality of the people at the school. They seem to be there at all hours and their ultimate aim is to assist the kids achieve their goals whatever they may be. I have always found the teachers and staff including the principal to be very approachable to discuss whatever issues we have, and have found the discussion fair, intelligent and productive.nAs our daughter departs to a world challenge Fiji trip for 3 weeks and our son has his first academic award in year 4, it has been a successful year, and I could not be more proud of our kids and the people they are becoming..nThe aim of the school is to partner with us to produce confident active members of our community and to provide them with opportunities to discover everything about themselves and to do whatever it is they want to do, and this school does that. It has an academic focus which we like because inevitably part of that discovery for kids is what they want to do and then find out the further study required and what is needed to get there. Again the school and staff provide the opportunities to find those things out.nIt has not always gone the way our kids hoped but that too is a solid learning lesson that sometimes even when you try your best, you don't get the results. On those rare occasions we have found the staff to be completely open to discussion with our kids about what they need to do to improve. Unfortunately as kids discover not everyone wins and not everyday is a great day, but the staff go out of their way to help the kids adjust to both winning and losing as this is the way life is. I have seen a review here about a parents experience when their kid did not win the grade 3 spelling bee and then pulling them out of the school and I think this says more about the parent than anything else.nnTalk to the recent graduates, talk to the staff, talk to a range of parents, that is my advice when weighing up your options. Don't use some disgruntled parents who have left the school over petty issues be your source of knowledge.nI hope and trust that our children graduate with a solid understanding of themselves and their potential, filled with confidence to take on the world, and going to AB Paterson College has set them on their way.
