Absolutely amazing experience for both my husband and I! Both Leila and Charlie went above and beyond with our designs. Stunning tattoos and they were both very down to earth people to interact with. Thank you so much HIGHLY recommend!Services: Fine line tattoos
I had a medium sized piece done on my forearm and the line work is awesome. The care and attention showed by my artist I have forgotton her name was really good. Highly recommend and will be back next time I'm in town.
We had a Terrible experience with Zealand Tattoos , artist was not skilled , overly priced for a very below average tattoo . One of the Tattoos was so badly done that it can’t be fixed and no refund was offered after spending $1400. The vouchers aren’t worth purchasing because this company just increase your tattoo price to suit them . We were quoted $450 then when we arrived it was increased to $1800 , we were told these Tattoos were very detailed and would take 3+ hours and this price would only be reduced to $1400. The tattooist rushed these Tattoos in less than 2hrs and we were very upset with the end result . They tried to fix one tattoo up for us but unfortunately it couldn’t be fixed, I expressed I still wasn’t happy and a refund was mentioned but Zealand tattoo later emailed me back to say they have decided Not to give me a refund but we could come back over a year period and have it touched up !!!!! Touched up ??? I have since been to an experienced Tattooist and they are shocked at the experience we received and said this tattoo would only be worth $450-$500 max done right. This company is dishonest and they are not interested in offering a satisfactory customer service .Services: Tattoo design

I’m so incredibly disappointed with my experience with Zealand Tattoo - in short, do not waste your time, money, and effort. They seem to have a reputation for quoting a price, getting you to pay a deposit, and then increasing the price. I had booked a large piece with them for March 2020. I was quoted at the time by Sam for $2,500 max which I was happy with and paid my $500 deposit. I’m from Australia, so once covid hit, I had to cancel my flights. They did offer me a full refund of my deposit at that time, however, I figured I would be coming eventually thinking covid shouldn’t last too long, and told them to keep the deposit for the meantime. Over the next 2.5 years, I was in regular contact with them, right up until April 2022 when I emailed to rebook this appointment for September 2022. This is when I was told that they had been reviewing the previous emails and realised there was a misunderstanding and they would need to update their quote. I understand that mistakes can happen and was willing to hear a slightly adjusted price thinking it might be $500-$1000 more at most. *Please note: I had not requested anything different from the very first enquiry email with them. I had not added colour, extra detail, or increased the size - nothing. I did not get a response about this updated price until August, less than a month away from my flight. Gui replied saying that he had requoted my piece at $9,000 max. I was shocked at the $6,500 difference for the same piece that was quoted in 2020. I know this studio does not quote on an hourly basis, but just for context, that’s $642/hour. I expressed my disbelief at this new quote and was met with excuses even blaming COVID. Gui said that he could requote based on a “lower level of detail”, which came to a max of $7,150. In my opinion, that’s still very high for this piece, nonetheless, it is still a $4,650 difference from the original $2,500 quote. I contacted Otautahi Tattoo another tattoo studio in Queenstown who were just as shocked as me, I gave them all the same info on the piece I was after and they told me that the piece could no way be any more than $3,400. I had already lost my trust in Zealand Tattoo at this point, so no matter what they requoted me, I was not stepping foot into that studio. I told them this and requested my deposit to be refunded in full since it was such a significant difference from the original quote and they still had time to fill my appointment. They did not reply to this and instead told me that they “in good faith have agreed to do the piece at the original quoted price of $2,500”. I suspect they only agreed to this so my reasoning for a full refund was now invalid. At the end of it all, I only got a 40% refund. I’m still in shock at this whole situation. So disgusted at their attempt to take advantage of me. I was in regular contact with them throughout the 2.5 years, only for them to suddenly realise the “misunderstanding” a month before I arrived and once I had already booked flights etc. Once I voiced my issues with the updated quote, they continued to chase after my money even once I had already told them that I would not be going to them. After speaking to another tattoo studio, I’ve learnt this is a common issue they hear about Zealand Tattoo. I’m lucky that they didn’t start my tattoo and then raised the price on me because I really would have been stuck - I know other people haven’t been as lucky. Please, especially if you’re a traveller, DO NOT TRUST THEM.Services: Tattoo design
You will be quoted a price for your tattoo and agree on that price but then half way through getting the tattoo when you’re unable to change your mind, the owner will prance in and announce that you were quoted too little and you now have to pay a higher amount. This amount will be considerably more than what you were quoted. This is his tactic and he targets vulnerable people who he thinks won’t speak up. He is known for doing this. A pleasant experience from start to finish. I bcamein with a rough idea the night before and got assigned Honoka as my artist because her skills fit the proposed work. By the next morning I had completely changed up what I wanted. I had sent about 15 photos of different patterns and my thoughts where now all over the place. She didn't even flinch and sat down with me to guide my decision. Together we found what seemed was a good direction, she got right on the task to design my tattoo, and 2 hours later she had it ready. Somehow she had found exactly what I wanted. The next 8 hrs I spent in the chair flew by. Honoka's concentration and stamina is admirably. She really put in 100%. They told me beforehand that she's a junior artist. Nothing about her would suggest that to a novice like me. This girl has talent and she has also put in the hard work and practice. Thank you so much Honoka. I wish you the best of luck.Service: Tattoos
