The food was good, affordable and very filling. The staff was nice and friendly.
Liked your vegan option. Tasty and colorful. Warm staff. Keep it up!!
The food itself was ok. It wasn't bad but it wasn't really that good especially for the price. The portion size was the main issue. I felt like I was eating a kids meal. I ordered a burrito bowl and it was tiny. The portion size was just awfully ungenerous. I definitely felt like I overpaid for this meal.
Not sure what was here before Zambrero, seems like every time I walk down Elliot St some new place is there and a couple of old ones are gone. Of course pleasantly surprised that a funky Mexican place has managed to sneak in, and I remember these guys from Britomart or somewhere. They are a fresher version of Mexicali done right and all the menu options looked good. I went for the healthy bowl and even though the chicken mixture looked odd, the whole ensemble was delicious. Def great quick lunch spot for us roving hungry amateur diners.
Very clean and tidy, friendly staff and delicious food. Really impressed that everything on their menu can be made vegetarian or vegan on request. Also liked that they used biodegradable packaging instead of plastic.
Probably about the worst Nachos I've ever tasted. The best word I could use to describe would be: Unfortunate. Upon entering the shop everything looks clean and fresh, a rather welcoming shop. The food however was very bland, for example the most flavorful part of my meal was the sour cream. If you're a fan of Mexican food, I would avoid this establishment.
Walking about Auckland, the girlfriend and I had a craving for something spicy, filling, and at least semi-authentic. We chose Zambrero hoping to find the perfect food - or at least a great burrito. We were pretty far off, unfortunately. This overpriced wrap daresay I shan't defile the good name of burritos with this sad attempt featured tasteless goopy beans, an under-seasoned spoonful of shredded beef and 90% cardboard-tasting Uncle Ben's instant rice. Somehow the pickled jalapenos became the crown jewel of the whole meal simply because they had some level of taste. The only saving grace of the meal was some sort of garlic aioli sauce that, although has no place on a typical burrito, added some taste to the rice, making it bearable when very hungry. On another positive note, the restaurant offers an extra scoop of beans for their vegan option. Unfortunately they regret to mention that the scoop is a teaspoon because my girlfriend had the same awful proportion of beans to rice as me. I have had some excellent burritos from restaurant chains, but Zambrero has truly set a new low. Writing this review, my stomach is turning thinking of a rice filled pita covered in garlic sauce. There are some excellent restaurants and stands along Elliott street, so I would strongly recommend sticking to them.
I go here at least once a week for their nachos, am obsessed with it. Best nachos in Auckland as far as am concerned. I really haven’t tried other things on the menu but I once tried their burrito and I wasn’t really a fan.
Service was terrible - Lady was extremely rude. I ordered a Classico bowl which comes with rice beans and meat choice. I didn't want beans or meat and asked for extra rice 3x and she just stared at me understood English. Say something or explain why I can't have extra rice . Will never go back.
Service is important and this place is terrible. They don’t even supply you with tap water and say you have to buy it, this is coupled with the relatively negative attitude from the staff. Food is OK but expensive for what it is. Would love to have Water for FREE from the tap, I feel dehydrated! Ps. Lettuce shouldnt be an extra cost in a quesadilla
