It's a great place to get all the Indian spices, veggies, pickles, sweets, oil and a lot more. It has a lot of south indian and north indian stuff with a lot of indian brands. It's a bit costly but if you're really carving for some paneer butter masala or some idiyapam or some sweet jalebi you can grab it here.
For Indian food items, I recommend this place. And it's not crowded. Most spices products are available. Also, the price range is moderate. Sometimes parking is difficult in front of the shop. But you can park on the other side of the shop.
Atmosphere was not decent but goods seemed very comprehensive, especially for the spices. My husband and I found their vegetables not very good quality even though they had cheap prices tagged. It's a small place to shop but if you are interested in buying spices, I would recommend this shop. Otherwise, mornibg market is better.
I enjoy coming here every few months; there is always a rotating selection of Indian goods, with plenty I have not seen before. Most of the products seem to be from India and the more general Indian diaspora e.g. Fiji, though you can find fresher items e.g. samosa, sweets, vegetables near the front of the store.
Since they are popular now, they have started everything so expensive, and in the packaging, you can't buy open spices or other products to make money and fool customers.
There is a huge range of 100's of products you can't find in normal supermarkets, so I saw many new items I've never seen for sale before in NZ. I would have to agree with previous posters that this must be the best Indian shop in the region due to both the quantity of items for sale and also the quality of most products.
Indian grocery stores, can avail most of the stuff. Except for south Indian stuff. Not cheap but reasonable price.
Worst Indian shop on wellington, with worst customer experience with the manager and owner.i had brought back a bad juice drink.i asked for a replacement.they refused and sang the same tune that i was the only one who complained.They do not agree with nz consumer guarantees act. They will not replace any product even if it is not good for consumption. Be careful before you buy.They told they will only take back products that are expired or not opened. How would I know if juice is bad before I even opened it. For 4 dollars they will fight you. Wish someone else opened an Indian shop so I would not have to go here.
I have been a regular customer since yogi ji opened in Petone. Perfect store for Indian grocery. all the staff is friendly and well trained expect few new bees. I had very Bad experience today. I hope the manager and the management will focus more on customer service. If they want the loyal customers keep shopping and happy
