Welcome to the facebook page of the WPS Parents &Teachers Association!
We are a group of parents and staff whose role is to support the teachers, management and Board of Trustees of Waverley Primary School. We provide a voice for parents and ultimately promote the well being of the students at the school.
The PTA is a stand alone organisation set up to run fundraisers, the proceeds of which are allocated to the needs of the school.
If you are new to the school we encourage you to come along to a committee meeting and meet the team. We would love to have you on board as a committee member or as a ‘Friend of Committee’, or just use the opportunity to meet some local parents.
Our Goals are:
- To support the board and teaching staff in raising funds for items that may not otherwise be budgeted for
- To maintain a high level of communication with the teaching staff and board ensuring that fund raising is prioritised and agreed upon by all parties
- To develop an energetic, approachable and functional committee that can also serve to welcome and involve new families to the school and provide a voice for parents
- To promote the welfare and education of students through nurturing co-operative relationships between parents, whanau, teachers and the wider community
- To involve parents in the fundraising process, encouraging a community approach to our children’s welfare and education
Friends of Committee:
We all live busy lives and many of us are unable to commit to a position on the PTA, however please consider contacting us to sign up as a ‘friend’ of committee. ‘Friends of committee’ are periodically asked to lend a hand at fundraisers & events. There is no obligation to help on that particular day if you are busy, but if you are free we roster you on so that the core members are not always relied upon to ‘do everything’. Many hands make light work.
