I don't usually go to that shop, but I was parked right there and only had two small things to buy. It ended up taking me 15 minutes to find them. Then, when I got to the checkout, as usual, the app for my membership card wasn't working. But this time I was determined to make it work. Unfortunately, there was no one to help me at the self-checkout. I waited for more than 5 minutes, even sat down at the self-checkout, hoping someone would come and help me. Then I left without the items and went to New World, where everything went smoothly, as always.
Worst supermarket I’ve been to. Terrible layout, constantly out of stock, and staff seem completely uninterested. Some staff are outright rude , especially Cat. You’re honestly better off going to New World. Overall a really poor experience and easily the worst in the country.
Pricey, better to shop at Pak N Save Kapiti, but the staff are freindly. It's not the best for shopping though. Sorry to say.
I’m pretty fortunate to have this supermarket up the road from me in a small town. It’s reasonably small but there’ll always be a car park watch out for old people backing out and not checking!. Are the shelves always stocked? No. Can I always get what I need? Also no. But again, small local supermarket, I’ll survive! I like there’s always staff around and with the new addition of lots of self checkouts, you’re rarely waiting for long. The staff are always friendly regardless of time of day. The trolleys are always replenished and available and I’ve not experienced a dodgy wheel yet. My only bugbear and I know it’s a controversial one, but there always seems to be a charity for something right by the door. I really don’t want to keep being pulled into a cause that I politely decline and then feel bad when I walk out with a bottle of wine or something. It also grinds on me that when the charity people are young males, they’re ogling the college girls going past.
Another small town Countdown in direct competition to a solid New World across the road. This Countdown has stiff competition in Waikanae but shines through with its excellent bakery and service. Highly recommended
