Climb alongside Twin Falls, one of Wanaka’s most iconic waterfalls... and you don't even need to get your feet wet!

Story

Wildwire is Wanaka’s newest via ferrata adventure on Twin Falls waterfall located at the gateway to Mt Aspiring National Park. The activity is as easy as climbing a ladder and you will stay dry throughout. No previous experience needed. We offer small group and custom group adventures for up to 30 people a day. The adventure begins in Wanaka with a spectacular drive through the mountains and along a short 4WD access to the base of Twin Falls waterfall. Safety systems are taught at our practice area at the bottom of the waterfall and while climbing the via ferrata, participants will cross wire bridges, discover hidden pools, secret swimming spots and enjoy incredible views. Tours range from 3 hours to a full day.

We had a brilliant experience with guides Mel and Brendan this week doing Level 2 with 2 kids aged 13 and 12. I never felt unsafe AND this trip definitely pushed our limits, some of the sections are certainly challenging. A perfect blend of adrenaline fuelled by nerves and excitement. Plus those views! Wow! Highly recommend level 2 of the Lord of the Rungs climb! You can see where the level 1 people stop and what is added with level 2. I think I would have been disappointed if I had only done level 1 -- level 2 is quite a bit longer and adds more intensity and I think well worth the price increase from 1 to 2. I was fine not doing level 3 though as I thought what we did was plenty! They split the overall group up so we had a small group 4 climbers with 1 guide which was nice. I'm a short 5'3, active but not strong woman and had no issues physically with the climb. I'm not afraid of heights but parts were still a bit heart-pounding! Overall it was super fun and I definitely recommend if coming to Wanaka!
Really enjoyed this via ferrata experience so much!!! The guides were really friendly and helpful. They helped my parents though the level 1 route my parents are about 60y.o. and they enjoyed it so much. This must be the best thing ever to do in New Zealand. I loved the Via Ferrata climb up the falls. It's such an amazing experience! The team at Wildwire is the best! This was a fantastic way to spend a day! The instructors were all climbing experts who helped make it ridiculously easy. A couple of people in our group were a bit nervous but the instructors easily got them up and down. This is a must-do activity if you're in Wanaka.Visited onWeekend
I am not one of those people who love any form of exercise. Actually, I chickened out and moved myself down from a level 2 climb to a level 1. This was so so easy! If you have any concerns about your fitness to complete this, don't. We had an 60+ old in our group who had no troubles at all. This was soo much fun, also very safe as you're in a harness for the entire climb. The climbing is slowly paced so you're never out of breath. I regret not doing the level 2 climb, if we come back that is something I'd love to do. Great story on how this course came about and the land owners. Staff was great, this is a must do activity!

It was so very safe, the guides were patient and confident and the information before and at the time made the experience run so smoothly. Awesome experience! We're no regular climbers, and my family including my petrified wife and kids aged 13 and 15, loved the experience. Safety briefing was given and we had our own guide who was helpful! Next time level 2! Well done Wildfire. Thank you
Did a level 3 climb with my family. It was amazing! Our guides were fantastic and we felt safe at all times. Lunch was super tasty and the helicopter ride down was a blast!
