Story

The Berry's are a 4th generation Otago farming family. Whitestone Cheese was founded in 1987 as a diversification during the 1980's rural downturn and a series of crippling droughts.
The original factory was set up in a commercial garage with milk sourced from local farms and one cheese variety Farmhouse was launched.
The business slowly grew as an extension of the farming operation until today's purpose built factory was commissioned in 1996.
Son Simon joined the business with a new set of skills and the farm was sold to concentrate on the growing the exciting family enterprise.

Hi. We went here for the tour of the factory. Our guide Daisy was very knowledgeable and very informative. she answered our questions and explained the process very well. The tasting was great and the goody bag had cheese in it. Had a great time there.
Excellent place, plenty of different cheeses to choose from, friendly and helpful staff . Planning to go back and try their tasting platter
Beautiful Cheese and lovely shop. I definitely recommend the $14.50 platter, it gives you 6 different delishous cheeses. Very lovely staff
Make sure you check this place out - fantastic cheese! The tasting with wines was amazing - such a nice pinot gris was on offer. Get yourself the wooden cheese knives on offer too. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Didn't arrange a tour but we wished we did

Really enjoy the range they have in the store, helpful staff.
Going forward I refuse to buy their product or bring guests to their factory tour. They seem to advertise jobs and waste people's time. I have 3 friends in Oamaru that have had same thing. Sorry Whitestone you're turning the locals away.
