Great food. There wasn't a kids menu but our six year old happily demolished the adult salmon. None surroundings though it was a bit cold outside that evening. The chowder was perhaps a bit gloopy and uninspired, but the fish and chips and the crufo were great.
Beautiful little spot just off SH2. The food is top notch and the service is probably some of the best I’ve had in NZ. Had the calamari and the gnocchi & both were delicious and well presented. The calamari was the most tender I’ve ever had and would definitely recommend if you are a squid! Definitely will be coming here whenever I’m coming down from Auckland.
The place was beautiful, the staff other than the guy that served us were so kind and lovely, we understand it being rural that the food is expensive but holy moly it’s more than Auckland. Would recommend to check it out but you will be spending a fair bit, especially if it’s a big group. It’s also VERY hard to find lol.
Very average food. AMAZING barman who was very friendly and helpful. Sent one our our mains back should have rated it a 2 but other main was ok it was a very very underwhelming, super watery- runny, tasteless had to salt 3 times to add anything before deciding it actually was just not good enough very yellow, fish-less Seafood Chowder. Everyone agreed that is was not usual and was swapped out for another.. Still one of the worst chowders I have had from all around the world.
Large group food did not come up to expectations! Service was like a faulty towers episode! Special of the day was steak which in several instances was full of fat, tough and unable to be cut - especially as steak knives were not provided. Wine charged at $17 a glass appeared to vary in size. Would not recommend or return!
