Story

Whangaroa Big Gamefish Club was established in 1925 for the purpose of weighing two Marlin for Capt. L.D. Mitchell.

Situated in the picturesque township of Whangaroa, Northland, New Zealand, Whangaroa Sport Fishing Club Inc is host to many fishing tournaments throughout the year in the Whangaroa Harbour and surrounding area.

The Cavalli Islands nearby are renowned for world class game fishing. Striped Marlin, Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Broadbill Swordfish, Shortbilled Spearfish, Tuna, Yellowtail Knigfish and many more gamefish abound in the area

The towering cliff faces and deep water sheltered coves and inlets of Whangaroa Harbour offer perfect anchorages for a spot of fishing.

Stunning views, beautiful bay, lovely people, bar meals - had simple pizza - no fresh fish in that night.
Beautiful food served here and friendly service. I dined here three times while on holiday. I had the fish of the day snapper with chips and a small salad. The fish was fresh and the portion was big. I also had the steak with chips and salad which was cooked perfectly medium and large in portion.
The seafood chowder us too die for. Top meal and awesome service from bar and from restaursnt staff

Epic views, service and food! Been coming here every week for the last year or so... Trish and the team do such a great job of creating generous and cost effective plates of delicious comfort food. I've even left my sunglasses/daughters toys there multiple times and one of the staff has always found them and kept them safe for my next visit! Lots of yummy options, great seafood, allergy friendly and awesome specials too. If you want great value while watching the sunset and feeling like you're one of the family... Come here!
Beautiful place, busy whenever I visited. Ice cold beers, kitchen service can be a chaos but staff are really nice.
Set in a beautiful bay!! Food is cheap and cheerful, not fresh seafood the night we visited, very homely and lovely staff.
