Whanganui has done a great job to provide access to the river. Was in town so took a walk along the boardwalk after dinner... beautiful place and the Saturday Market is legendary.
Great range of food and things to buy. Bought a great hat. Had strawberries and chocolate in a punnet. Bought Nice artisan bread from a stall too.! Parking is a bit tough with roadworks but doable.
The best markets. We frequent these often. Always fresh produce, amazing coffee. The best pizza I've ever tried, this is a must try. Even my son and husband, who do not like mushrooms, love this pizza. Our dogs enjoy coming with us, and we always stop by the dog treat stand to get them their favorite biscuits.

We visited the Whanganui River market with food stalls gifts and entertainment. It is by the Information center. When the market is not on you can park your campervan overnight in the carpark by the river.
