A very good information center down by the river, with plenty to do on site. A very big range of information and lovely helpful staff. Cafe in the building and well kept clean toilets. Plenty of parking nearby. There is also a restored tram offering rides next door to the center and cafe.
Awesome staff, very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Surprisingly, a fantastic place to buy gifts for Christmas. Big range, great prices. Pieces from local artists also for sale. Situated on the river with Mud Duck next door. So much to do in Whanganui that it is worth a visit to find out what's available that you might otherwise miss.
We chatted with the visitor center employee. She was very welcoming and pleasant. We received tips and recommendations on routes and the weather, which made us enjoy our time in the area even more. The center is very educational and beautiful. There is an accessible parking lot with public restrooms. For sure, we are gonna come back. Thanks Carol!
Used to live in this town a long time ago in 2010. Last visited in 2016. Good memories last forever. Hope to come here again.
Situated conveniently right beside the river that has a riverside board walk for cycling & walking on, plenty of seating, recycling rubbish containers & even a drinking water station.nReally helpful staff, plenty of pamphlets about various activities & road maps.nAn awesome to scale 3D model of Taranaki on a large table that you can walk around and visually see distances between places.nThere are public toilets inside the building and bicycle stands outside.nPlenty of free 1hour parking.nMud Ducks café adjoins the Visitor centre.
