Speak Up, Speak Out, Be Heard! Get involved and get your voice heard in Whanganui!
The WDC Youth Committee is made up of 18 diverse young people ranging in age from 12-24 years old. Our job is to speak up, speak out and be heard on issues that affect youth in our city. We meet formally in the Council Chambers once every 6 weeks and informally every 6 weeks in between. We make submissions on behalf of the youth of Whanganui, run events such as the Annual Awards Adventure and have initiatives like Collaborative Community Funding to help our young people achieve their potential. If you have any questions about what we do please do not hesitate to message us.
On the the Whanganui District Council website you will find links to our initiatives as well as short bios on our committee members. If you are between the ages of 12-24 and want to be a part of our team you can also apply through the WDC website. Applications are open when there is a vacancy.
