I would like to say a special thank you to my surgeon Barnaby Smith and his team and his nursing staff for the the amazing care I. had with my operation. The nursing staff were absolutely supurb, making sure I had everything I needed and went out of their way to make me comfortable.
I was admitted today for minor surgery. Every health professional and member of staff we encountered was welcoming, friendly and genuinely concerned for my wellbeing. Thank you all for your professionalism and care.
my very first memories of being at this hospital is when several doctors told my seven year old self that i was lying about being in pain & overreacting because there was nothing wrong with me. i have hEDS & was suffering from two torn meniscus. that neglect means i now have no meniscus in my left knee & only a little in my right because i wasn't operated on when i should have been. & even when i eventually got the surgeries, it was a doctor from tauranga, not whakatāne hospital, who helped me.ni wish i could say that the quality of care has improved since then, but it absolutely has not. if anything i think it's getting worse. the orderlies & reception staff are lovely, the nurses frequently mock patients within earshot & the local doctors couldn't care less about their patients.
Staff and Drs are excellent. Staff make you feel at ease.very good A and E. Security people on site always.very clean hospital.
