I was craving some good ole beef based steak after too much lamb since landing in New Zealand. I love me some lamb/mutton here and there but beef is what I enjoy more and thats how we landed at this steakhouse during our trip. I give it a 5 star not because it was anything super special or different but because they did things right. The steak was cooked as requested, medium rare for me, and tasted great. The duck fat fried potatoes as a side complimented the meat perfectly. Everything was delicious. My only complaint isn't about the food but about the seating. It's a small place and they crowded the tables real close. Hard to move without brushing up against your neighbors and hard to have an intimate date cause your neighbors can definitely hear. Didn't try anything other than the beef so no idea how their other proteins are.
Easily one of the best restaurants we've been to in New Zealand! The service was attentive and friendly, the food was spectacular. I came specifically for the Venison Loin and it did not disappoint - the pomegranate glaze was TO DIE FOR. The only tiny critique is that the decor was lacking a bit and there was no music was playing. Parking: Easy to find, right out front.
Yum! Our meal was the perfect first night introduction to Wanaka. Even booked in again for another night that week but blimming covid meant we couldn't go. Was lovely to be able to pair our perfect steaks with a beautiful Central Otago Pinot Noir as well.
Tititea Steak House is solidly 5, the best food I've had touring around the South Island in 6 weeks. Great food, service & atmosphere. Well-trained staff. I had Beets Three Ways to start 4/5, which was a much larger portion than I'd expected. For the main, I had the Savannah Ribeye on the bone 5/5, sautéed mushrooms 4/5, roasted garlic herb compound butter 4/5 with a side of Citrus Salad butternut, pear & goat's cheese 5/5. My dessert was the Creme Brulee with freeze-dried raspberry 5/5. The Chard Farm Mata-au is the pick of the Pinot Noirs and the Mt Difficulty PG dessert wine paired well with dessert.
Sam the owner operator was pleasant and welcoming. Lovely meal with the lamb which was cooked perfectly pink n' juicy. Always a pleasure to go to this restaurant with each stay we have in Wanaka. Don't miss a meal out in this restaurant it's food is delicious.
An absolute delight. Phenomenal food. I had a medium rare eye fillet and I was obsessed - not normally a steak person but I adored this meal. Excellent service, great food, good cocktail menu.
Amazing food and amazing atmosphere. Tanya and the team were friendly and hospitable. One of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time! Try the buffalo cauliflower, highly recommend!
We arrived without a reservation early on Saturday evening. Even though they were fully booked the manageress found us a table. I had the fillet and my husband had the stone grill. Both were great. The side of potatoes I ordered we're absolutely wonderful, I could have eaten them all night. Service was friendly and fast. Recommended.
This steak house it a great example of a restaurant that attempts to be upper class, however, not reaching their own set standards and goals. The high price for meats is understandable as the overall quality is on the top end. However, the overall portion size is small. When ordering for example the stonegrill trio, three snack size pieces of meat are simply not enough to satisfy hunger. Plus the fact that having three little pieces of venison, beef and lamb is more than 10% more expensive than choosing a single piece - because cutting justifies it? I don’t think so. Or serving 180g of meat as a main for 40+$ is simply overpriced and not fulfilling. In addition to that, the sides are basic, non-innovative or out of the box but priced high. It was worth a try and it will suit people who don’t know much about meat products and fine dining experience but have spare cash to spend it. The overall restaurant atmosphere is a bit stiff and blend, sadly. The food tasted good and the meat was of good quality. However, price-value setting is not right and should be improved either with lower prices or better service and setting or adjusting portion sizes.
Was in Wanaka on holidays and decided to try out the steak house as I had seen some good reviews. One of our steaks was cooked as asked whereas the other one was rare when we asked for medium rare. Both were still good although one also had some dried herbs on it which wasn’t listed on the menu. The green salad was not as it was advertised and came with some sort of sesame dressing instead of the vinaigrette and did not go well with the rest of our meal. It was also very small for $14. Overall I didn’t really feel like it was worth the money we spent.
