West Coast Surf is based at Tauranga Bay on Cape Foulwind, 20km south of Westport.
We provide first timers with a safe and invigorating environment to learn in as well as providing some world class waves for the more experienced surfers. We offer lessons for new surfers and coaching for the more advanced levels looking to up their skills in the water.
Our head coach, Mark Perana (Puke) is one of NZ’s longest serving and well respected surf coaches. Mark is a previous NZ team coach, past NZ title holder and a level 2 supervisor coach with the International Surfing Association (ISA) and Surfing New Zealand (SNZ). He is also a Level 2 surfing judge with ISA and SNZ, he can often be found running the judging team on the South Island surfing circuit. Mark is also a qualified snowboard coach and examiner.
