Stayed in the 2-bed self contained unit for a night. Interior is very practical with all the wall hooks and power sockets at the right places. Actual space feels bigger than how it looks on pictures. We were greeted by 2 friendly ducks sitting quietly on the balcony the next morning while we cooked breakfast. Nice to connect with wildlife and nature while in the capital.
noisy site.nLots of construction workers staying in the cabins and leaving really early in big trucks with reverse beepers... from 5.30 onwards.nWe were going to stay here for a few days but the 1st night was so restless that we ended up staying at another site up the valley which was much quieter and a nicer experience.
I have stayed here a few times but the last time we had items stolen off our MTB bikes under security cameras. Unfortunately after talking to staff they never bothered to get back to me , told me that they would check footage and get straight back to me , that was April , still waiting . So don’t leave anything in sight for thief’s to steal, I blame myself but would have been nice to have had a follow up .
OK place, was tidy and grounds were nice. Showers were clean and we did laundry here - all was good. Location was noisy though with car racing traffic - surprising given the more out of the way location. Was fine for one night before we caught the ferry to south island.
Great service and spotless rooms. Our room unfortunately was very noisy till past midnight as we were right next to the kitchen so we battled to sleep. However the rooms are great and very comfy. Top service at reception. We will definitely go back but will ask for a different cabin . We struggled to get to the park due to our GPS and Google maps taking us to an industrial site due to road changes?
