New to travelling on the train. I was very disappointed to find the ticket officer was rude and intolerant. I ended asking a fellow passenger how it all worked and luckily for me she was really helpful. The young person on platform 3 was extremely helpful and had time to let me know how things worked. Thanks to him I found my train and was confident I was heading in the correct direction. 10.33 today
Elegant heritage Railway Station. Very clean, tidy & airy. Large bright central courtyard with LCD information around displaying train arrivals and departures. 3 courteous and informative staff happily greets and listen to your request. Answers were prompt & precise. Ticket counter is across the information center. Separate doors leading to male and female toilets. City cleaners help keep this station sparkling clean. Hungry? Head over to New World for hot cooked meals, pies or sandwiches. Drinks, fruits & usual supermarket items are on display. Inter City bus pickup passengers at platform 9 or just before inter island bus shelter. Look out for yellow boxes on the road indicating Bus parking.
Train and bus station inside a beautiful work of architecture that it could become a bit of an attraction by itself. Has rail and bus services to parts of Wellington and much of the North Island. The building is old but looks very well maintained. Also has a coffee shop and a decent size New World inside.
We're treated very well by the Eveleth staff in the station.... however, there are a bunch of really awful cross disguised as taxi drivers out front... they didn't want to take us a short fare with our baby, and then charged us $43 when the meter read $9.30 claiming they had agreed $40 when we'd heard them say it would be about 14... a real shame NZ gov let's taxi drivers shake down tourists and that they're give a spot on pride place of wellington Station! Avoid this taxi in particular, he yelled at us when we called him a crook even though we'd already given him his money...
You will appreciate the architectural and historical aspect of the station.
Beautiful old building Small but functional well station located in the heart of city, friendly staff Inside the building you will also find a local Supermarket
Quick service and helpful staff. Love the 9 and 3/4 reference too.
Real clean, light and airy. Can be windy & draughty also. The New World store is a definite plus being here. Ticket selling staff are helpful and suggested a cheaper alternative for travel with school age children - the Metlink Explorer!
One of Wellington’s finest buildings. Convenient to town and the stadium.
It's a super pretty train station has an amazing roof. Trains are genrally on time and has a very easy lay out and a super convenient new world.
