Story

Kia ora, welcome to the Tuahiwi Facebook page. Tuahiwi is the home of Ngāi Tūāhuriri in North Canterbury.

The takiwā of Te Ngāī Tūāhuriri Rūnanga centres on Tuahiwi and extends from the Hurunui River to the Hakatere River and inland to the main divide. Our whare, Maahunui takes its name from the canoe or our shared ancestor, Māui-tikitiki-a-Te Raka.

Maahunui ll, our new whare, opened in 2012 is a contemporary purpose built complex designed to meet the needs of our Tuahiwi people. A hirable facility, Maahunui ll is a wonderful community resource.

Attended a dear friend's mother Tangi last week and so appreciated what a special Marae Tuahiwi is.
Went for our covid injection today at Marae the people were so nice and welcoming then had a lovely cuppa afterwards and something too eat so glad i went too the Marae for my covid injection thank you
The reason for this visit was to celebrate with an amazing lady who was made a Dame, so this was to celebrate her,what an absolutely amazing experience,words just don't do this event justice
This Marae has had a total refurbishment with all modern amenities with a kitchen that could cater for weddings 21st or what ever you have in mind and the backdrop scenery million dollar view
