Luthiery services for repairs on stringed instruments in the lower South Island
There is something quite brilliant about the connection between a player and their instrument. It doesn’t matter if the musician is a beginner or experienced, young or old. Their instrument may look pristine and well polished or it may be bruised and battered, stained with blood and tequila. There is still an undeniable link, which joins the two together.
It is that inherent connection that I love to support. Through my work as a luthier, I take pride in keeping musician’s instruments going, and going well. If the musician is happy with how their instrument feels, sounds and looks, then the music that comes out of them will be better. Three cheers for better music - the world needs more of it!
I also really enjoy helping people to learn more about their instruments. Stringed instruments are fickle creatures. They like to flex and change with variations in temperature, humidity and string tension. I have found that walking through some basics with players can help them to confidently take care of their instruments and know when to take them to a professional.
I run a home-based business in Lake Hayes Estate and I welcome folks to stop by my workshop, ask questions and see the work I do in person.
