Story

Welcome to the Facebook page that will be your ‘go-to’ resource for everything you need to know about the brand-new Wakatipu High School in Frankton.

The first sod was turned on the site at Remarkables Park in Queenstown in March 2016, but planning started much earlier.

Our new facility is part of a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project. Wakatipu High School is part of the 2nd PPP bundle of schools (PPP2), covering the construction and maintenance of four new schools across New Zealand (including one in Auckland and two in Christchurch). Under PPP, the Future Schools consortium will build and operate our school facilities and grounds over a 25-year concession period.

The new school is designed and being built in accordance with the principles of an Innovative Learning Environment (ILE), encompassing Flexible Learning Spaces as an integral part of learning.

As the new school build progresses towards opening in 2018, this page will be updated with the latest news, updates, images and videos, with plenty of background information to be shared over time.

We encourage parents, educators, students, the local Frankton community and wider Queenstown-Lakes community to like the page, follow and share.

nice school, bad people. also lee hiestand is nice and mrs cooke is good too. mrs boel is good too.
WHS is actually such a good high school. It provides a great education, helping teachers, a wide variety of extracurriculars and course options, none of that skirt-limit nonsense, wear whatever jewellery, dye your hair, and they provide awesome mental help such as school counsellors. The school building is also very inclusive and modern. It has two stories, two elevators, a lot of bathrooms that actually get cleaned regularly, gender-neutral bathrooms, free period products, and way too many courts. School starts at 9 till 3:10 pm which is actually reasonable unlike other schools. The only reason why this isn't a 5-star school is because of the racism, homophobia, vape, and alcohol culture with the students. I have never witnessed bullying in the school well in my experience, but kids do get teased here and now. As long as you don't act weird, do at least one sport, not fat, you'll be all good.
My son Jack has just graduated from Wakatipu High School this year 2022. Jack thoroughly enjoyed his time at WHS. The teachers and staff are all amazing. He loves living in Queenstown.
this school is horrible. too much yelling at and not helping students at all.
don't like it. Honestly worst in all nz schools.
