We went to the glow worm cave and on the way back home we found the museum. It was a small but informative museum about the Waitomo caves and the historical and geographical facts about the caves. It was well organized and informative specially after our visit of glow worm cave. Also they have a part in this museum that explains biology of glow worm and you can see some short documentaries about them.nI definitely recommend it if you are into geology of the caves and their related history.
This is an awesome museum!! We aren’t normally museum people but we loved the exhibits of the bones found it caves, great caving videos and the kids loved the crawl through cave. Very accessible information and the whole place is engaging and dynamic with much of the actual museum designed like a cave to walk through. Totally recommend for kids and adults alike!
Very nice little museum. Chock full of great exhibits, interactive items to keep kids of all ages entertained. Thank-you for doing such a wonderful job on this. We really enjoyed it and a deal for the price!!
Fascinating place to visit. So much information to take in about the local area.nMy favourite part is learning about the geology of the area and how the caves came to be.
Wet weekend in Waitomo, done the caves, a 4yo and 5yo to entertain... what next?? Bring on Waitomo caves Museum for almost 2 hours of entertainment! There is just not that much to do around Waitomo on a wet day... But this place is the gem we were looking/hoping for - small footprint but big entertainment factor and some great local insight and very knowledgable recommendations too.
