Waitakere Primary School

I Highly recommend Waitakere Primary school as a great all round school. I find the senior management put alot of time, thought and energy into all facets of the school. They follow up with any concerns and have an empathetic manner towards families and students.

I regretted moving my kids here after the first year of them attending. So I ended up moving them elsewhere. You cannot beat having kids attend a separate Intermediate school in preparation for high school - there are far more opportunities and responsibilities than what's on offer here. Waitakere lacks the ability to support children who may struggle socially and a academically. And unless you are good at sports then you don't really have a place here. Verbal bullying is rife. Empathy is lacking from teachers and I think the school would benefit from a senior management overhaul.

Some of my worst schooling years. I endured so much bullying and teachers couldn’t care a less and would tell you ‘work it out yourself’. Mrs Lachlan is the worst woman who has ever taught me. She was horrible and picked on you if you had flaws in the way you behave or learn. Usually if it’s very minor too. Mrs Marinkovich was by far one of the WORST ever, she picked on older kids all the time. Don’t expect your senior kids to enjoy themselves here cause for some reason teachers always have a bone to pick with older students for no reason. Mrs Stewart is also awful. She was horrible and disrespectful to one of my teachers who’s classroom was next to hers.

Nice, as far as primary schools go, has a new playground for the kids. Swimming pool out front avaliable to the kids during break as well as outside friends. Many good memories made here and still have siblings that attend the school. The school ultimately set me up for high school, and not to brag most students in my year managed to get into the gat abd summit programmes in surrounding high schools.

one teacher here treated me really badly compared to the other students in my class as she had favorites, she accused me of cheating, lying and made me lose confidence as she always made feel upset. I was in her class for 2 years and i still think she is working there. also i disliked value time please make it optional for the sake of other kids.
