The Sculpture Park Waitakaruru Arboretum

Story

Carved into a Waikato hillside, this former quarry has been transformed into a magnificent 17 hect- are garden and arboretum. Planting started in 1991 to enhance the existing features: rocky outcrops, ponds, flowing water and broad vistas.

The Waikato Sculpture Trust holds three curated exhibitions annually at The Sculpture Park. At any given time there are at least 50 sculptures to discover along the 2km long nature trail. Each sculpture and installation is placed to fit this truly beautiful setting.

Sculptures are for sale. The commission received by the Trust helps fund forthcoming exhibitions

Beautiful tranquil setting, fantastic during any season. Perfect balance of nature and art. The history and transformation of a old quarry, to what it is now is another reason to visit. Visit the website before visiting.
Loved the afternoon we spent at this lovely park. Pack a picnic or buy something from their yummy cafe.
Great place for a picnic then have a stroll exploring the converted quarry into theSculpture park. Plenty is Sculptures to find and see and things to do. Also eat some lovely plums as you stroll along.
This place was really cool. Good value for money and plenty to see, especially if you look really close. Only thing I could say would make it even better is a wee cafe for a nice cuppa mid-walk.
Nice garden for a day trip from Auckland. Perfect for family with children, and couples too.
Absolutely brilliant and reasonably priced. Don't go too fast and look all around you. There's so many hidden surprises. Took around 2 to 2 and a half hours to complete. Just one note there's a few steps etc so no good for people that are no good with steps. I would definitely recommend you go
Years of toil to create a garden of trees and paths linking wonderful sculptures, some thought provoking, some simply inviting a rest.
