Wairakei Natural Thermal Valley
""‘A small piece of paradise’, is the way many of our patrons describe the Thermal Valley. If you enjoy being in nature and are fond of animals you may just agree. You may wish to stretch your legs and take in an area steeped in history and witness the geothermal marvels that the Thermal walk has to offer; wander around the small animal park and meet our friendly onsite farm and domesticated animals or perhaps just relax and indulge yourself with a great coffee or Devonshire tea fit for a King or Queen. Secluded camping is another option available to you. On a clear night you will enjoy the sparkle of the stars, the haunting sound of the morepork and there is room ‘to swing a cat’. Amazing place. Friendly animals! Owner is obviously a great host. We were hoping to stay there tonight but we cannot make it. We will definitely come back and stay next time.
Lovely secluded campground. The owners are very friendly and the inquisitive but well-behaved animals make for a unique experience and nice atmosphere. The facilities are clean and well-maintained and the whole place has a charming rustic yet tasteful character. Really glad we found this place!
I had a pleasant stay here, the owners are very friendly. A lot of chickens, peacocks and other birds. Not a bad 30mins thermal walk. I'm giving 4stars because of the only one bathroom it's tidy, you have to wait in a busy time.
Very natural and unspoilt
I'm from the US, I vacationed in NZ in November 2018 and this was a hit spot for me. A great spot off the beaten path, especially for tourists! Will come here again if I ever find myself in NZ again!
Good price vs experience. I think 10$ per person and 5$ kid. Recommended for short visit with kids
Off the cuff visit... Well worth it.. Quirky off the main track.. Excellent Devonshire tea a walk... Recommended for sure
