Took my 5 year old niece to the museum and she loved it. They offer children a game of eye spy, this is a sheet with pictures of various items in the museum. This helped her focused on what was displayed all over the museum and allowed me time to look at what they had on display. Loved it. 5 year old niece loved the play center it had a farmyard, science and technology. Offered lab coats and goggles and she said look I'm a scientist. A must visit for all who have not been to the museum.
Beautiful museum filled with history and culture. Learned so much from spending 3 hours here. Loved the displays, interactive activities, portraits, art, etc. There is also a small gift shop - but would've been nice if it was bigger with more items for sale. Would've really loved to buy some memorabilia.
The Museum itself was lacking excitement for children, however we found out there was a kids area. This is $3 per adults & $6 per child UNLESS you have a community services card, in which case it's $3pp. Huge area, many many different I interactive activities with the most popular being the Mario Carts! Definitely a great school holiday, or even weekend, visit! Opens at 10am.
Excellent regional museum, especially for children. There is a whole level of the building dedicated to interactive activities for children. Our son 2.5yrs old loved the activities as he’s very engineering / building focused. Could have easily spent a whole afternoon here.
A great fun place to spend time with your children, lots of things to learn. We were enjoying ourself in excite science exhibition, entrance fee is cheap. Apart from all the sciences, there’s also first Gen wii Mario kart driving for 2 , test your skill here .
Located in Hamilton, Waikato museum exhibits includes Māori culture, social history, and science. The museum has some interesting collections and is quite informative. The museum is not very big but perhaps worth a visit if you have some extra hours to spend in Hamilton.
Car parking available behind the museum. A great place to spend a rainy day. Grab a sheet and play I-Spy to find items around the museum. Exhibitions are constantly changing and majority are interactive so you can play and learn. Once you've found all your items on your list, reception awards you with a completion certificate. This part of yhe museum is FREE to view and explore, donations welcome Ecsite interactive play section - $5 per adult, $6-8 per child 4-14yrs and FREE for children 3yrs and under. 2 floors of absolute fun Please note at current the lower floor is closed temporarily Science, music, make believe play, creativity, building, electronics and the human body. All are hands on and suitable for children of all ages. -Interactive gardening -Mario cart -Xray simulation -Giant foam Lego and puzzles -Bridge building -Electrical components -Music making And so much more we spent almost 2 hours in here alone. We like to go everytime there is a new exhibit.
Really great experience visiting the renewed Exscite with my two-year-old. I love the thought that went into the installations, and the downstairs looks amazing with the upgrade. On a rainy day with kids there's just no better place to go to!
