My 11-year-old son was stoked after his group lesson with Waihi Beach Surf School! Naomi and Max were super encouraging and had my son up and surfing in no time. Waihi Beach is a great place to learn to surf. On the day of my son's lesson there was a small clean swell and with the gently sloping beach the waves are perfect for beginners. I'd definitely recommend Waihi Beach Surf School and Waihi Beach in general as a great and safe place to learn to surf!
We booked the 3-days course and Max was our instructor. He was good at explaining, took us right into the water and improved our skills where we were in the moment. The last day we were in the water with Aidan. It was the perfect ending of the course, he pushed us into many waves, explained a lot about reading the waves and left us with a big smile in the water.nAfter the course we were allowed to keep the boards and the suits for the rest of the day.nCommunication was easy going and flexible.nHighly recommend!
Had an amazing time and learned so much from aiden! We took the 3 day surf course and ended up loving the waves. Aiden is an excellent teacher and very easy going!nThe beach is a perfect place to catch your first wave!nThanks for all the help and the use of the gear inbetween lessons !
5/5 A+ surf lesson! The team was great and they were able to break down everything step by step so it was easily understood.nnI tried surfing once before and barely got up. During this lesson, I was standing up, riding waves, and also felt confident on what I was doing both right and wrong.nnThey also took photos for you during the lesson which was appreciativennCan’t wait to go again!
Learning something new and ticking off something on the bucket list is great. Doing it with great people even better. Being shown the ropes by Jacob and Josh tops it off. Just day 1 into the 3 day surf but loving every moment of it. Looking forward to another great days surfing. Likely they will be extremely busy over the summer as conditions here are just perfect.
