It was free. That's always a plus. There is a donation box if you're so inclined. That's also a plus. It's very diverse, showcasing the very different worldviews of the inhabitants of Waiheke Island. That is a big plus, because it is very insightful. The art is actually for sale, and if anything gets sold, the artist gets the chance to make another one. That's just awesome. I just like the idea of creating this space for artists to exhibit their works to the world and a space for the world to enjoy free art. It's a great meeting place that meets the needs of everybody involved. Design wise, it's ideal.
There was an exhibition of local artists, some quite good. The gift shop had quality kiwi items to purchase too. Friendly staff.
Great displays & helpful staff
Regular changes of local art displays make this gallery worth visiting often
Very nice examples of the talent to be found on Waiheke Island at this central point with a really nice display. Helps when you haven't got the time to go to each and every studio. You can see sone artworks from most of the artists here and then decide which ones to visit at their respective studio sites. There are many to choose from so if you can see some examples it saves a lot of driving around the Island allowing time to visit many other attractions such as the beautiful and plentiful beaches and especially the wineries, especially those with restaurants for lunches and dinners, Just so much to see and do, that even the week we are here for won't allow anywhere enough time, which we don't mind, gives us an easy excuse to come back many more times.
Small but perfectly done. A nice completion to the Sculpture in the Gulf your, had some beautiful work representative of the art you had just experienced on the tour. Bit too dear for me but loved it.
Nice spot to visit and enjoy local act work and sculptures.
So relaxing was nice that you booked in and then they actually clear the place out at the end of your time slot so it means it never gets too crowded.
Beautiful Gallery with lots of pieces by local artists. Recommend the Sculpture on the Gulf walks!
We have just experienced the most wonderful event on Waiheke Island. The Gallery organised and coordinated an Open House Day on the island. The day long program ran like clockwork. The homes were outstanding in panorama an architectural excellence. The luncheon was delicious and the volunteers on the buses and at the homes were so welcoming and informative. We will definitely return next year.
