We had a wonderful day exploring Waiheke Island on the E-bikes. Booking and collecting was really easy. The information supplied was fantastic and the bikes were great. It was one of the best days we've ever had. Perfect!
We can’t recommend highly enough you use Waiheke Bike Shop. The service is fantastic after being picked up at the ferry and taken to the shop. They even minded our luggage as we explored the island for 41/2 hours in perfect sunshine. It’s the best way to see the beautiful beaches and houses. Highly recommend using Waiheke Bike Shop, they are OUTSTANDING!!
As an ebike salesperson, these guys have all the right stuff. Their easy going nature combined with great quality service made for an incredible experience. Availability of accessories was great and well thought out and makes commuting or fun on the island 10x better. I was stoked with the bike I got too providing great assistance up the beautiful rolling hills of the island. By far the best way to tour Waiheke. Just grabbed the bikes at the ferry and were on our way. We were surprised how much ground we could cover in a day and it was all a breeze. Joaco was awesome and took great care of us, including biking out to help us when we ran into a snag. Also make sure you ask him for his map of recommendations, they were spot on!
If you are going to waiheke strongly suggest you reserve a bike with waiheke bike shop. We called the day before, jumped on the 8:15 auckland to waiheke ferry and had bikes waiting. Staff were a delight to deal with. The map they have us and walked through was good. We still took a few turns off the path but the map allowed us to get back on track and ebikes meant we could easily get up the hills. Bikes were in good shape and worked well. We would do this again anytime.
The levels of service and advice were exceptional and helped us to make the most of our day on the island. From being greeted off the ferry to the bike briefing and finally the return arrangements, everything was so smooth. And the e-bikes were great - and essential for such a hilly terrain. Highly recommended.
We totally enjoyed the bike ride around Waiheke... It's the best way to explore the island and it's so much fun to use these bikes. The shop folks were also warm and helpful and gave us good suggestions on the route and places to eat. One of the most memorable experiences! Only small complaint is that we the rental is a bit expensive... Wish it was a bit more economical.
ERIDE Waiheke is located extremely conveniently in the ferry terminal on Waiheke. When we dropped by they had bikes available, although they probably get booked out in the summer. Always worth a shot though! The person at the counter was extremely efficient, provided all the useful info we needed maps, places to stop, equipment explanations, helping us learn to use the bikes. The ride around the island is beautiful and the bikes are a great way to see it. I recommend ERIDE Waiheke for a nice day on the island!
First of all, on the question of how to get around, renting an e-bike is probably the best way to tour the island as it is at your own pace. We stopped at a winery, had a swim at Onetangi Beach, enjoyed a refreshing ginger ice tea at the Waiheke Honey House Cafe and then of course we had to stop at another winery Mudbrick on the way back to the ferry. We are only casual cyclists and the e-bikes made the hills very easy to navigate. As drivers from Canada, we just just had to keep to the left, keep to the left....but it's not as intimidating as you may think. Secondly, on the service of the Waiheke Bike Shop, it was first class. We were picked up at the ferry immediately upon arrival and brought to the shop. We were given plenty of information about routes, lookout spots and stops. At the end of our journey, we simply had to drop off the bikes right back at the ferry terminal. They are very well organized and have great equipment for all levels of rider. We will be doing this again !
It was so much fun to explore the Island on those well maintained bikes. They are super fun and fast. We had such a nice and very friendly service, got everything explained! We would do it again!!! Just loved it!
