About

CAUTION: we never use recruitment agencies. Under NO circumstances should any person pay any money for recruitment services offered by any person on our behalf.

Story

Wai-West Horticulture Ltd from small beginnings in 1983, has grown to be a large and diverse horticultural operation. It is continuing to expand its fruit crops that grow well in the Nelson Region. The Waimea Plains at the top of the South Island is our base, just south of Nelson City. The region enjoys the most sunshine in New Zealand with over 2500 hours per year.

Our permanent staff of 20 and a further 200 casual personnel through the growing season prune, thin, pick and carry out all that is needed to grow a quality crop of fruit. Wai-West Horticulture Ltd is quality focused with the majority of the produce exported fresh to over 50 countries around the world.

We have an ambition to grow all of our produce on a sustainable basis and are actively involved in the reduction of pesticides through the better management practices.
Wai-West Horticulture Ltd was a previous winner of the Tasman District Environment Awards. All of our crops are grown under strictly audited food safety programmes.

We own, lease or manage over 200 hectares (500 acres) of orchards growing apples, berryfruit and kiwifruit. Along with our orchards we have investments in post harvest facilities, packing and storing fruit. Although we work on a large scale, we endeavour to create a family atmosphere.
