I had a very disappointing experience with my restricted driving test at VTNZ Te Rapa on 18 February with the testing officer Tony.nnFirstly, Tony arrived about 10 minutes late and did not apologise. During my test he even stopped at Supercheap Auto and spent around 10 minutes getting items he needed, which felt very unprofessional and showed a lack of preparation.nnThroughout the test his tone was extremely rude and harsh, which made the experience very uncomfortable. I made sure to check my blind spots, but he said I did not and failed me for that reason. I want to be clear that I do not mind failing a test, mistakes happen and you can learn from them. However, when I politely asked if the recorded footage from the test could be reviewed, he responded by saying “please don’t lie and be honest,” which felt like he was accusing me of lying.nnAt the end of the test he told me I was not a safe driver, but instead of giving constructive feedback or explaining things calmly, he spoke in a very dismissive and discouraging way. When I mentioned that I had taken driving tests before, he responded with comments like “did they not teach you this?”, which felt unnecessary and disrespectful.nnThis was honestly one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I left the test feeling very upset. A driving test is already a stressful experience, and testing officers should treat people with professionalism, respect, and basic courtesy. Based on this experience, I would not recommend taking a driving test here, worst place you could go too!
Had my full license test here today and Shah was my instructor. He was so kind from the get go and made me feel more at ease as I was very nervous. Highly recommend! The receptionists were also all very lovely as well :
Mr Prashant S was the testing officer for my practical driving test today. He was very kind and professional throughout the test. He clearly explained the safety precautions I needed to follow and conducted the test in a calm and respectful manner. The instructions were clear, and the process was fair and professional. I am thankful for the guidance and support provided during the test. This experience showed me that there are many good and genuine people in New Zealand.
Indian driving instructor!nnYesterday I sat my full license and the driving instructor wasn’t very friendly from the moment he hopped in my car. Yesterday he was giving me feedback while taking the test and telling me what i was doing wrong which was fine because i was able to work on it.nnToday I sat my full license again and got the same driver. This time he stayed quiet the whole time and wasn’t giving me any feedback about the mistakes I was making. Before my test this morning I took the route that we go on so I could practice and watch my speed. We went the same route and when the test finished he said i was going 38 in a 30 but i know for a fact i wasn’t because i made sure to practice and i slowed down to 30k before we got to the sign.nnHe then gave me a critical error right as the test was finished for not going into a median strip turning into tawn place at VTNZ. which I know i did, I feel upset and frustrated because I feel as though he’s failed me on stuff for no reason when I know i didn’t make that mistake.nnThe thing that annoys me the most is how he stayed quiet the whole time today when yesterday he didn’t. I feel like he done that to make me do enough errors to fail me. He doesn’t like me, and i’m annoyed how I got the same driver and can’t book into resit it again this week as i’m moving overseas on Friday.nnPlease take my complaint seriously as I’m genuinely upset about this. I tried to ask him why he didn’t give me feedback today like yesterday and he couldn’t even answer the question.nnand reading some of these reviews back, looks like a few people have had similar experiences. good on you. hope you take feedback back seriously.nneven if you watch the recordings back on both days, he was talking yesterday and today wasn’t. I’ve attached my resultsnnHe also never gave me a name at both test but he was indian in his late 40s early 50s. Thanks
Came down Saturday morning, opened at 7.30am..Had line cars waiting already so pays be early. Great customer service and communication..Tidy business with clean waiting area, free coffee with cool bee hive houses out the front.. Highly recommend..
