The Waimakariri district is a relaxed unspolied destination only 15mins from Christchurch Airport. The gateway to North Canterbury featuring easy access to beaches, forests, rivers, lakes and mountains to explore.

The rural but modern towns of Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Oxford and Pegasus offer boutique shops, hearty cafe's and museums that show the rich and long history of the area.

We have over 21000 hectares of conservation areas with mountain summits, waterfall, wetlands, river and beach walks - over 50 walking and biking tracks for all levels to choose from.

The Ashley Gorge is a real jewel in the crown. The crystal clear snow fed river with it's much loved summer swimming holes and the stunning walks near by make is a destination for all who love picnics and nature.

Combined with friendly people, stunning drinking water straight out of the tap, over 900 events annually to amuse you, there are plenty of reasons to visit the Waimakariri.
