Story

Vimutti Monastery is a Buddhist community in the lineage of one of Thailand’s greatest meditation masters, Venerable Ajahn Chah. Created with the intention of generating peace and wisdom in the world, Vimutti is situated in the midst of 150 acres of native bush, pine forest, streams, ponds and rolling hills. The monastery offers seclusion and suitable conditions for those who wish to deepen their meditation, as well as the opportunity for people of all nationalities to join together in harmony and work towards a noble common goal. One can experience the rare and precious opportunity to take part in the daily life of a monastery, participate in regular meditation workshops and serve the community on ‘Good Kamma’ days. With the combination of a traditional approach to monastic training, a beautiful natural environment and a compassionate atmosphere, Vimutti is a powerful support for the alleviation of human suffering. True freedom and lasting happiness are to be found through the purification of the heart, the cultivation and perfection of the Buddha’s Eight-fold Path. By encouraging the study, practice and realisation of these teachings, Vimutti can truly be a liberating refuge on the way to awakening.

Theravada forest tradition Buddhist monestry. Very peaceful experience
I expected a day of calm and getting lost in reflection time but ended up in looking 4 first road out. Maybe it was the time. Will go a little bit later than this morning. Did have a good walk after being miss directed
Quiet & serene meditation location about an hour from Auckland. Thai tradition under Ajahn Chah forest tradition. Lunch Dana is welcome between 11am -12pm. Food Dana well wishers are encouraged to bring vegetarian dishes. Enjoy a beautiful, quiet and windy sitting at the Pagoda. Everyone is encouraged to practice Noble silence as meditators are practicing at any suitable available location. Good place to quiet your mind and be control of your mind
Calm and quit place to do meditation and other religious activities.

Nice and relaxing place not far from city.
If you interest to do Buddhist meditation, this is the best place in Auckland where you have to go. Little bit further from Manukau but worth to visit. This place following the Thai forest tradition. Lot of foreign monks frequently visit this place for sermons. This place across around 100 + acres so better prepare for a long walk inside the forest.
This is one of the best places for Buddhist practice that I have ever seen. The environment is so peaceful and beautiful, and there are simple huts scattered throughout the hills and forest. The abbot, Ajahn Chandako gives wise teachings everyday, and the community atmosphere is wonderful. The stupa is a great place to meditate! Everything is run on dana donations so everyone has an opportunity to come and stay. If you are serious about looking into the true meaning of life, then I highly recommend staying at Vimutti Monastery.
