Accommodation in Riverton, 1920's Villa where time stood still. Original features with modern comfort makes your stay memorable.
You wont be disappointed with Villa on Castle, built in 1920, and still very much as it was with a few added comforts of course. Sympathetically restored with the help of local knowledge, I had the pleasure of meeting a gentleman who was born here, in the villa, and lived for 30 years, his parents 60 years.
The Villa is warm and spacious with rooms and a wide hallway. A typical Villa with a white weatherboard exterior and veranda to watch the ever changing tides on the estuary. It has 2 large bedrooms and a smaller one, in villa terms but still has a queen bed inside. The lounge has a big bay window with stained glass at the top. All ceiling are Rimu (a native NZ wood) as are the architraves and doors.
There is working coal range in the kitchen with a wet back, but this wont be necessary as I have had central heating fitted throughout to make it comfortable and effortless to keep warm. The fireplaces remain as they were in 1920 and give a nice feature to the house.
The bathroom has a shower and claw foot bath so you can soak and relax.
We will be ready for guests early December and look forward to your feedback.
