Vettori Shield was started for the first time in 2017. The invitational colts cricket tournament will commence through 4 days of cricket.
St Paul’s Collegiate School is one of New Zealand’s leading private day and boarding schools for boys (Year 9-13) and girls (Year 11-13). Located in Hamilton, St Paul’s is in a learning environment that fosters academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, character education and traditional values.
Small size of less than 700 students creates a close family environment allowing each student to be known personally by their teachers and peers. This intimate environment allows for small class sizes of less than 20 pupils, in which students have greater teacher assistance in an achievement-focused environment.
Although there is a strong focus on academic achievement, students are expected to be first and foremost good people; then successful students and scholars who strive to embrace our strong academic tradition; and, finally, individuals who learn to work together and cooperate with one another in the classroom and day-to-day environment.
The cricket programme at St Paul’s Collegiate School provides a challenging and enjoyable environment where all players are able to develop a love for the game. Boys with a particular love and aptitude for cricket are identified in Year 9 and 10 and given individual or small-group coaching with a specialist coach.
Students train on St Paul’s cricket grounds and two indoor cricket nets equipped with bowling machines for training during the winter months. Students also have access to two quality grass wickets, two artificial wickets and five well-maintained outdoor nets.
