I had been to this restaraunt around five years ago and it was awesome. Five years down the track and it has gone to the dogs!!! There were not even enough dishes to warrant the name"buffet". The hot dishes looked and tasted like they had been sitting around for years and if i thought that was bad the dessert was even worse. There were 3 dishes these included 1cm pieces of brownie $5 chocolate cake from pak'n'save and a bowl of cubed ice-cream. I then brought a bottomless cup used for unlimited soft drink for $7.95. The choices included the normal coke, fanta and so on. Upon filling up my glass i discovered that the drinks were a knock-off commonly known as "jolly" drinks. Horrible service topped off with horrible food makes for a horrible experience which i will be warning everyone i know of to steer clear. I will never spend my hard earned money there again unless it changes hand. They should be ashamed of themselves trying to rip off there fellow man!!!!
We have visited this restaurant on Sunday the 25th May 2014 lunch time. Staffs were accommodating and attended to your needs. The only problem is the whole management is disorganized. There were many patrons queuing up for meals but there was scarcity of food on the bain marie, this was totally disappointing. People have to wait for long time to get the food on their plates. Soups were consumed and left empty and kept checking it many times and they did not refill. There were only two chicken for nearly 30 to 40 patrons queuing for food and once served, it's cold and dry. There were limited dishes and it's totally scarce. Dessert totally horrible, ice cream place in a bowl cut into cubes and it's melting. The price you pay is not worth it, as the food, and the ambience are not really good and satisfying. Will never come back here ever again.
Took my wife and massive family here for our 12th wedding anniversary because we had been there about 7 years ago and loved alot of things there....this time though it was terrible!!! We appreciated the lady at the front desk and the kind service. Loved the experience that my family put on for me and my wife with a surprise table set up with heaps of gifts placed on it. SO EMOTIONAL because we didn't know our children and family had set this up before we arrived.....But Then we began to eat the food and for me personally it was only thing that ruined the amazing night we were having...there was something very bitter that I ate but I don't what it was as I was excitedly eating all the different things I had put on my plate..it was so disgustingly bitter that the taste remained there until I want to sleep that night. I tried rinsing my mouth to no avail.terrible food and the chefs look sweaty and dirty. YUCK!!!
Our experience last night with the grandchildren was the worst I have experienced to date in any restaurant, the food was of a poor standard and quality insofar as the seafood, which was supposedly fresh that day, was in an advanced stage of going off and putrid in smell, at that point we had had enough and left demanding some refund which was given. The site displayed an 'A ' grade certificate, I would seriously question that, the site was not clean from the toilets to the dining room.
So Valentines Lincoln is not what it used to be, it's gone to the doghouse now. I gave it one star because the customer service was good. The staff were friendly and were helpful despite the main star being the major let down being the food... I hope the staff or new owners because it obviously has a new owner with the change in quality will read this and look at their business and change. 1. First of all the fried fish was more like fried batter, I don't know what the heck they put inside to call it fish, but you could hardly taste the fish anyway, after a couple of bites I pushed my plate aside. This is what I call shortcuts to save money for the owners. 2. The bread rolls were defrosted because you can still feel the wet and moisture on them when I went to select them. 3. The miniature butters are margarine, and not the real butter, so once again shortcuts and a cheap business purchase for their business and customers. 4. The seafood chowder was not the good quality kind, it was in fact like glue with hardly any seafood inside, once again after a couple tries I pushed my plate aside for this one. 5. The pumpkin soup was majorly watered down, cheap cheap cheap crap! 6. The butter chicken had hardly any chicken in it and was mostly comprised of watered down sauce, again cheap shortcuts! 7. Before they used to have a selection of roast meats from lamb to ham but this time it was only ham with more fat than meat. 8. The only thing that was decent enough to eat was the salad bar and desert bar. 9. The $25 birthday cake was a huge joke. It was bought from Gilmours with the words "HB" and then the persons name scribbled on it in chocolate sauce. Theirs chefs and cooks need to go back to cooking school, the owners need to watch more you tube videos of the apprentice, because it does not have the prestige of a valentines restaurant. What is sad is that the staff and cooks are Indians. I know a lot of Indians who take pride in their food, dishes and presentation. Yet when it came to the staff and cooks of valentines Lincoln, it was not the case, there was no pride or quality put into their dishes or the presentation of it. This is the impression that I have of a valentines restaurant with Indians working in the kitchen. If I know and see that they are Indians, I will not want to eat there, yet you have excellent Indian restaurants like paradise in Sandringham who serve and cook quality Indian meals and dishes. Paradise restaurant in Sandringham is one of our favourite places to eat in Auckland. The owner of valentines Lincoln should make an appointment and talk to the owner of paradise restaurant in Sandringham to see what their formula is and why they are one of the top restaurants in Auckland, and take notes or I don't think they will last long in the game.
we had dine in yesterday. The staff were friendly and were helpful that's the only reason for giving two stars and definitely they need more staff. Not enough food on hotline when we went there around 7. Didn't see any chicken in butter chicken . The pumpkin soup was just ok. But enjoyed the salad. Not much vegetarian selection. james
My experience here was not so good. Food was dry, mussels was like eating rubber, the only fresh food there was Hot Chips my kids couldn't really eat the Food , chicken was OvEr cooked couldn't really chew it I can go on but the BIG put off was when the lady came upto me and said "don't let kids waist food because they charge extra if food is waisted" OMG! Really? How can i force my kids to eat the Food when it's hard to chew hmmMm .. Bad Bad experience Never going back ther again .. Dined on the 29/03/2016
Will never visit Valentines Henderson again. Took my granddaughter for her 10th birthday dinner - her choice as she'd the food was lovely. Big mistake. She didn't dine free - see large print on the sign but check small print sayingwe needed to be 4! Despite me emailing our booking with details of it being her birthday. Big sign the window said Happy Birthday xxx..., but they had to write my granddaughter's name up again despite being told this when booking by email. The receptionist/duty manager tried to placate us with offering a free drink for granddaughter - something I suppose?! Duty Mgr's t-shirt was grubby - looked like food or whatever stains. The seafood chowder was like glug with not much seafood, the cold seafood was pretty standard & bland, salads were ok, the hot food looked like it had been sat there all day or longer, some items were unrecognizable & completely unappetizing, the hot prawns tasted like mushy cardboard, the desserts were 'pretty' I guess but much the same & unappealing - no pavlova...maybe cause they don't know what cream is!?, I had some hot fruit pie and when I asked for cream to go with it, it didn't look like whipped cream as I know it...was yellow in colour, tasted and looked sthg like custard...from a carton?? the other hot dessert had the strangest taste one nibble and it was put aside! My granddaughter helped herself to the softdrink dispenser only to be told those drinks weren't included in the price - really? How much is it for a glass of soft drink from a dispenser?? We really ate very little because it was so awful - even my granddaughter couldn't eat much dessert which she had so looked forward to, then we got charged $31.90 for me, $15 for her, almost $6 for my soft drink....and my granddaughter was up half the night with a sore tummy and left school early today because of diarrhoea! Be warned people - avoid this place at all cost. Others clearly know about this, other than us there were only 3 other tables in use. Absolutely my worst dining out experience ever! Not even worth half a star even if I could give this place that. AVOID!
Have been twice. First time there was an older white male chef and all the food was super super yum, friendly staff etc. Then went again and there was a different chef and every single thing in the buffet tasted like it had been tainted with poison or almost like dishwash, it was horrible. So I'm undecided whether I will try it again or not.
Please don't waste your money here it's cheaper to eat at Fortuna in Sky city. There was hardly any food there, the soup was so thick it was pulpy, the white and cheese sauces were the same consistency as water, their nachos was dry fried mince and chips and there was an unidentifyable Orange baine. There desserts were store bought slices cut into cubes and refridgerated which gives them that stale taste and texture and when I approached the manager to discuss the patchy coloured chocolate slice she informed me they weren't stale that was a result of water that had been dripping onto them that altered the colour of the chocolate, I preferred it stale becaus that nauseated me . Valentines used to be so good it's a shame it's good name was wasted.
