Story

The University of Canterbury is New Zealand's second oldest university. It was founded in 1873 as Canterbury College, the first constituent college of the University of New Zealand. Its original campus was in the Christchurch Central City, but in 1961 when it became an independent university it also began moving out of its original neo-gothic buildings, which were re-purposed as the Christchurch Arts Centre. The move was completed on 1 May 1975 and the university now operates its main campus in the Christchurch suburb of Ilam and offers degrees in Arts, Commerce, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Forestry, Health Sciences, Law, Music, Social Work, Speech and Language Pathology, Science, Sports Coaching and Teaching.

Great campus and high academic standards are maintained. Very good learning atmosphere. Facilities are really good and the buildings have good architecture and themes.
A very good uni. Great campus friendly staff. Come and take a look
Fantastic campus, great courses offered. Nic Lam is amazing
If you are contemplating pursuing a PhD at this university, I urge you to think twice. My experience here has been profoundly negative, marred by subpar supervision and a blatant disregard for student concerns. The supervisors I encountered seemed more interested in exploiting students rather than mentoring them academically. Complaints go unaddressed, leaving students feeling helpless and ignored. This institution appears to be more invested in collecting tuition than fostering an environment of academic excellence and support. Proceed with caution. Wish to give negative stars if I could.
Beautiful, widespread and green university campus. TT with friends was fun.
Best place to study. Great atmosphere, well equipped laboratories and people are very welcoming, helping and Friendly.Students will find everything they need on campus, including four different libraries, a state-of-the-art fitness facility called the RecCentre, art galleries and a number of different bars and restaurants. The institution has been awarded with a 5-star ranking for research and teaching by the QS World University Ranking... indeed.!!! . It is based on New Zealand’s beautiful South Island, there is lots for students to do outside of lectures. From surfing to skiing, the diverse landscape that surrounds the city of Christchurch provides unique sporting and cultural opportunities for international students. Also I am adding some of the pictures of old campus which is based in city centre of Christchurch. It was affected so much due to earthquake but now they are reconstructing it.
Loved touring some of the most amazing architecture in Christchurch at College House as part of the Open Christchurch weekend.
Great College. Great Campus. This is a place to study for sure. I would definitely recommend everyone to consider here if they are looking. Thank you for reading my review.

I don't go to the university for education but the university grounds are very pleasant to walk or cycle through with some lovely mature trees.
