Excellent camp ground. Ground is a little soft in the spot we were given with no hard full underneath. It was so good having grey water dump on campsites. Very quiet with lots of trees, but just across road from the marina. We will be back.
Not the happy camper family style campground we were hoping for. As many of the reviews have said the management seem quite grumpy. Tell you to keep it down after 10pm even when you are being very respectful and being very quiet. The bathrooms are quite gross. They put out a hand towel for everyone to share and wipe your hands on. At one point there looked to be blood on it. Yuck! The showers would cause a massive puddle all day every day right where you want to wash your hands so you have to stand in the dirty puddle. There's no avoiding it. A sign appeared near the end of our stay that said please make sure the shower curtain stays inside the shower. Shower curtains are also gross if you ask me at a camp ground. Huge signs everywhere telling you that you must be out by 10am. Just wasn't a friendly happy vibe around the place. Only thing I did like was the fact that it's not a huge place, so not a massive walk to the toilets and kitchen. Wish I'd read the reviews before booking. Maybe they need to read their reviews and try to improve the place. It has such potential.
We had a lovely mid-week stay. The grounds and facilities were immaculate and we enjoyed the fire in the camp kitchen/recreation room. A manager went out of her way to help us and a pair of ducks frequented our campsite. We would stay here again.
The only reason I rate this place 1 start out of 5 is because I can't give it zero. This is the single worst camp ground I have ever stayed at. I wish I had read the reviews. To be honest, I question how anyone would ever give this place a glowing or even mediocre review. The management are the rudest, most incompetent camp ground staff I have ever dealt with, leaving my blood boiling more than once. We actually left 3 days early, and not because of the storm... we've managed worse storms in tents. And THE BATHROOMS! Omg. Nothing short of disgusting. They thankfully seem to change the single hand towel they put out for everyone to use, daily I think. Could be every 2 days. And in case you didn't know checkout was at 10am, the million signs around the place will let you know. I've posted pics of 3 of the signs between the bathroom and my tent - my tent was 20m from the bathroom. The tent sites are also smaller than advertised. And if you're not tucked up in bed by 10, the fun police will get you, even if you're whispering. Not sure how they deal with loud snoring. If you want to sleep in, you can forget about that. Management zoom around faster than the speed limit they police, real early, waking everyone and the kids up. And if you do manage to sleep through that, the screaming and yelling at people who are running one or two minutes over the 10am checkout deadline, will do it. Do not go here. You will hate it. Also, seems to be for sale. Go here if you want to buy it and make it amazing
Just had 4 nights at this camp. Excellent base for visiting surrounding beaches. Beautiful open camp, very good facilities, helpful and friendly staff. Kiwi in surrounding bush so important to maintain dog-free policy. Highly recommended.
You won’t find another campsite for such good value! We stayed here when heading up north and returned again a few days later on the way back down. All the facilities you could need are available, a big kitchen and outdoor bbq, clean toilets and nice hot showers, and laundry. It’s a lovely family friendly, quiet campsite where you feel safe and can get a good nights sleep. Surrounded by lovely hills and some cute ducks will come to say hello. The host is the most lovely caring lady who was so kind to us when our plans were up in the air due to some severe weather conditions.
Wont be coming back. We stayed at a Powered tent site. Checkout timing is quiet strict with kids at 10am and Bathrooms are still having a towel as described by other teams. Reception staff was rude. Only 3 showers available which were not properly cleaned. Bathrooms quite run down. Very disappointing. Never recommend this site to anyone.
Stayed here for one miserable night, managers were both super rude and zoomed around on the quads all afternoon/early morning. The gas stoves are super slow to heat up and the showers barely worked, were dirty and cold. Grass is packed with gravel, making it difficult to put up a tent. Not worth the money, would happily stay at a freedom campsite over this.
We have stayed at this Holiday Park over the last several years and find it to our liking hence we keep coming back, The self contained unit we usually stay in is always clean and tidy. Facilities and grounds are kept immaculate. Managers are very helpful and polite I highly recommend staying there.
Dealt with the most horrible and unreasonable lady I have ever had to listen to on the phone before. Absolutely the most appalling customer service I have ever had. Due to one of our guests getting COVID. They wouldn’t even consider moving our date or offering a refund. A friend was listening to the conversation and honestly couldn’t believe how I was yelled at and treated. Luckily the bank was more reasonable and will be refunding my credit card
