Food was better than I expectednCosy atmosphere, a small but warm stove in the middle of the canteennThe lamb shank was soft and tasty, the bbq chicken pizza was delicious too.
Only popped in for a little hydration and a bowl of hot chips. Awesome food and service. The room was clean and we tucked up next to the fire which was lovely on a winters night. Very happy visitors
A nice place to eat while you are in Turangi. Food is really good although a tad bit pricey. Also a nice range of different drinks, both alchoholic and non-alcholic.nnAtmosphere is good but not great.nStaff felt a bit reticent, not eager to help and a bit of a cold attitude.
We would have loved to sit outside on the patio to enjoy a beer but 4 locals were smoking heavily and we did not feel like we could ask them to stop. So we stayed inside which was not what we really wanted to do. This was very unfortunate.
Save your money and don’t eat here. The lamb shanks were rock hard and the fish and chips were inedible as you can see from the picture. When we let the counter staff know about the fish, the manager said that was the grain of the fish I know what fish is supposed to look like and when asked if she would eat it the response was yes, no care at all. The fish and chips was $32… prices are ridiculous.
