Really wanted to like this place. It has a great atmosphere- communal and comfy. Pool tables are free after 5:30pm with dinner service. I saw whole families enjoying this.nnUnfortunately, I wasn't a fan of their pork ribs. It fell off the bone, but the flavor wasn't marinated throughout, so the pork smell really comes through. Also they appear to use a steak sauce equivalent for the marinade, which just isn't what I wanted. Their tomato sauce for chips/fries also appeared to be based on steak sauce, which tasted weird.nnThat said, I saw someone else with a burger and it was enormous! Could be a better option here.nnMy husband and I both got bit by mosquitoes while at dinner here, which is crazy because we spent the whole day out in the wild at Tongariro Crossing and never got bit once, come mountains, lakes, nor streams.nnService was kind and excellent! Also good parking lot.
Good lil pub food was good altho of out table of 9 8 have eaten and 1 is still waiting on her meal which is steak so.... the bar managers attitude could have done with some improvement but the other 2 girls were great. Atmospheres good calm n quiet with a couple family's n a fair few locals. Meal price was reasonable for size they are big meals! Ok place to visit definatly wouldn't write home about it tho
Stopped off on a rainy night before heading back to accommodation at waitahanuinGreat local pub with a really nice local vibe. Dined alone enjoyed the food and people watching. Food came out quickly and was tasty salad and fish and an ice cream sundaennStaff were friendly and helpful.nnI heard on the grapevine I could wear my turangi tuxedo here? I imagine that’s outside? I’d love to know…. that make a great photo on my next visit!!!!nnNo pictures of the foodtoo hungry and scoffed it before thinking about the review. Instead fishing photos from nearby
Ordered mussels, pork ribs, pork belly and kids menu got dogs.nThe portions were huge and delicious.nRibs nicely seasoned and tender.nPork belly was crispy and soft at the right places.nCame with vegetables and a nicely drained mashed potatoes.nThe sauce for the mussels is crazy good.nI'm not due how to describe it.nCreamy with a bit of tang.nMussels are fresh.nKids hot dogs battered and came with twister fries.nPortions are big and good for a hunger person.nPeople are friendly.nThere is a game room for the adults but children are allowed in the pub if accompanied by parents.nThere is a corner for sports TV.nThe bare served up lots of pull beers and other drinks and cocktails.nI'm sorry for lack of info here cause I don't drink but the other patrons seemed to be having a good time.nGood food, drinks, company and service.
We stopped in here for lunch on a rainy day. The pizzas are absolutely divine, thick base, loads of cheese and loaded with toppings! A very good price too. There are pool tables too. It was a quite Monday lunchtime, staff were friendly also
