It says on the information by the door for others staying here and using the lounge, to be considerate of other guests, well that never happened, doors being slammed. Found others staying here, especially on the 2nd floor to be really noisy. I would never recommend the backpackers.Rooms: 1/5
You get what you pay for, comfortable bed but no parking on site or too closeby. Fine for a night or two.Service: 5/5
Lovely atmosphere. Staff are very nice and welcoming. We ordered a pizza which was divine, by the way and didn't even need to wait that long for it to be served. Food is a 10/10. Lots of seating options. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.Service: 5/5
Nasty as hell. Sheets all grotty. The directions on the halls all confusing as hell. Parking situation is a mess. The booking system which i organized from hostelworld was booked for the day before which i dont know how that happened. I understand its budget but i at least expect clean sheets. Id give this hole 1 star but thats a disservice to the staff that was handling the bar ionand also managing the reception. Maybe maintain the hostel in a proper way or just close it. Jesus help you.
Underwhelming and unwelcoming hostel. Stayed for two nights and the kitchen area and bathrooms were not cleaned during that time. Our room wasn't very clean either. Loud music until late from downstairs. I'd give the cafe downstairs a much more positive review as others here have done but the hostel is a one star experience. Avoid.Rooms: 1/5
Nice place to stay, reasonable rates for the rooms, especially if you want a room to yourself. Bathrooms are a little small, not many showers and toilets and a little run down but everything looks clean. Laundry is nice, and the kitchen and tv rooms are well stocked. Happy to stay here again.
Room was clean, warm and comfortable. However, if you want to sleep find somewhere else to stay. I was kept up all night by boyracers, other guests and loud music.Rooms: 4/5
We were a group staying there. One room, on arrival, the toilet still had the business in it. We told the manager, he said it was because they had a big group in earlier! No apology or offer to clean. No wifi in most rooms and tap in bathroom dripping. We would not stay there again.
I didn't even get a chance to stay here and I definitely won't after my disappointing conversation on the phone with whatever male was on reception. He was very unprofessional to say the least. While I was trying to make a reservation for this weekend he started having a full on conversation with someone without telling me to hold or anything. I kept politely asking "hello" without any response back. He then came back on the phone without apologizing for rudely cutting me off and speaking to someone else. He then asked for my credit card details to hold the booking which is completely okay and normal, but then he asked for my CVV and I told him I didn't feel comfortable giving that to him. I have been backpacking and staying at many different hostels without having to supply that information, I've also worked management at a hostel here in NZ and felt like it was a bit too much. He basically told me then I couldn't stay there and he would cancel my booking. I was shocked and honestly I never go out of my way to write bad reviews but how I was treated on the phone was not okay. Get better customer service or lose business. Up to you.
Definitely one of the more depressing hostels I’ve stayed in. I don’t ever write reviews but this place was a bummer. The building is a maze. No towels, which isn’t unheard of. Carpet and bathrooms felt just a bit too dirty and under-maintained. The cafe is nice! Really good WiFi.
