What does Tornado do?

Youth activities - camps, snowtrips, teenage life groups, hold da car, skateboard jams, hawaiian nites holiday programs and lots more.

Community events - house makeovers, fashion shows, monster auction, raft race, men's and women's activities, guy fawke nite, Hikurangi Day Celebrations, National Youth Week, Christmas Parade, concert at the lake, oldies christmas lunch, oldies trips and much more.

Community Services - free weekly community dinner, meals on wheels, food parcels, low cost food, shuttle van to Whangarei, community garden, councelling, seminars - 'P' etc, school lunches, firewood and lawns, graffiti cleanup, section cleanup and clearing, Lake lawns and rubbish, public toilet contract, elderly care, planter boxes in main street, rubbish clean up in main street, job opportunities, P.D. workers supervision, gym and fitness centre, youth centre, low cost laundry and much more.

Mission

Vision - To honour God our creator in all things we do. To build relationships with all people in our community. To treat people as we would like to be treated. To help rebuild the family unit. To break the lifestyle cycle especially family violence that many young and old are in.

Mission - It's not about structures, assets, program and events. These are just vehicles to achieve our real purpose and that is people. We need to meet their needs in a non-judgemental way, then they will trust us to help them to make much needed changes in their lives. Instead of giving them food show them how to grow food. Instead of waiting for money to come to them, showing them how to upgrade their skills so that they can go out and earn money. In achieving this we need to have a food warehouse where they can buy their needs at cheaper prices. Looking at the family and how to reach and understand them and their needs.
